Rihanna At Her Concert in Singapore

In recent news, Rihanna has canceled a concert scheduled for Friday in Indonesia over security concerns.

Dive Purnomo, a spokeswoman for the event organizer, says the pop singer had been scheduled to perform before a sold-out crowd of 6,000 in the capital, Jakarta.

But she changed her mind while in Australia, one of several countries that issued a travel advisory to citizens in Indonesia after the weekend executions of three Islamic militants convicted in the 2002 Bali bombings.

The men called on followers to carry out revenge attacks if their deaths by firing squad went ahead.

“Disturbia” pop goddess Rihanna and hip-hop sensation Chris Brown have been spotted arriving at Perth Airport in Australia on November 10, 2008.

The singers, who are on tour together, are set to take the stage before a sold-out crowd Tuesday night at the Burswood Dome.

Meanwhile, the chart-topping duo garnered the most nominations for the 2009 People’s Choice Awards announced Monday. They will vie for at least four awards a piece, including Favorite Female Singer and Favorite Male Star.

Winners will be revealed during the live broadcast hosted by Queen Latifah of the 34th Annual People’s Choice Awards from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Wednesday, January 7 (9:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network. Fans can start voting for their favorite celebrities in each category on an online voting page.

Rihanna leads the nomination list by receiving three nods. She is nominated for “Favorite Female Singer”, facing off Alicia Keys and Carrie Underwood. On “Favorite Pop Song”, her up-beat jam “Disturbia” will compete with Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” and Jordin Sparks’ “No Air” featuring Chris Brown.

Behind his dark glasses Justin Timberlake could be looking anywhere - but there’s one shapely attraction he could be forgiven for eyeing.

Rihanna’s curvacious behind, clad only in fishnet stockings, was undoubtedly the star of the show as the popstar duo filmed the video for their new single on the beach in Los Angeles yesterday.

Above the waist the Umbrella singer was the image of propriety, clothed in a multi-coloured wrap top and demure net hat. But her long legs were on display in all their glory as she stalked around the beach in cripplingly high platforms.

Justin was wrapped up somewhat warmer than Rihanna, in black jeans and a leather jacket.

There have been rumours that the two have dated in the past.

But both are now in happy relationships, with Justin dating actress Jessica Biel, while Rihanna is with fellow R&B artist Chris Brown.

In fact rather than flirtatious relations between Rihanna and Justin looked decidedly frosty as the two stood face-to-face on the beach.

But instead of a fall-out it seems the two were acting out scenes from Rehab off Rihanna’s Good Girl Gone Bad album.

After a quick costume change, Rihanna then stole the limelight again as she lay on a sunbed in suspenders and a pair of 40s style sunglasses.

Rihanna has made her way to Milan, Italy to keep an eye on the latest fashions during Milan Fashion Week.

The “Take A Bow” hitmaker looked oh-so-sexy in a cute black mini dress held up by a black studded leather collar paired with knee-high boots and matching black nail polish.

As the latest spokesperson for Gucci, Rihanna shot her first campaign for the brand over the summer. When asked why she joined the brand she responded that its charity work had been a deciding factor, ‘I give them so much respect,’ she described.

Rihanna - 2008 Essence Music Festival

According to The Associated Press, this was the 14th edition of the Essence Music Festival and it was held at the Superdome. Grammy Award-winner Mary J. Blige made her appearance Sunday and was welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd. She came to the Festival four years in a row.

“It’s such a blessing,” said Blige before beginning her performance.

Another special guest was comedian Chris Rock who retuned there for the first time in 12 years.

After Rihanna set a peaceful rhythm with ballads like “Take a Bow,” Chris Brown came with his hip hop songs, beginning his “Shawty Get Loose.” On one of Essence’s smaller stages was Grandmaster Flash demonstrating his famous turn-table technique, saying that “without DJ’s there would be no hip-hop,” reported USA Today.

Kanye West’s performance was once again impeccable and the set from the Apocalypse Now movie was very impressive. West performed songs like “Diamonds from Sierra Leone,” “Can’t Tell Me Nothin’” and “Gold Digger.

Patti Labelle proved her voice was still great while Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash joined her when “Lady Marmalade” came up. The three singers which formed Labelle are set for a tour and their album comes in September.

The Essence Music Festival represents a celebration of black music and culture. In 2006, the festival moved to Huston because of the Katrina Hurricane but it returned to New Orleans.
