Paris Hilton and Benji Madden called it quits Tuesday after nine months of dating, a rep for Hilton confirms exclusively to Usmagazine.com.
“Even though they are still in love, they felt it would be better to just be friends,” a source close to Hilton, 27, tells Us.
The reason for the split?
“Benji was overprotective and controlling. He doesn’t get along with any of her friends,” the source tells Us. “Friends thought Paris had changed since being with Benji and she wants to be herself again.”
The couple stayed faithful to each other, stresses the source. Hilton was spotted with her ex, shipping heir Stavros Niarchos, in Miami over the weekend, while Madden, 29, hung in NYC with his bro, Joel (beau of Hilton’s best friend, Nicole Richie).
“Nothing went on between Paris and Stav in Miami,” the source tells Us. “She was there for a girls weekend with her BFFs.
“Benji really respected her,” the source adds. “They will be friends forever.”
Hilton and Madden first made their relationship public on February 21, smooching at Hollywood hot spot Villa.
They grew serious quickly. Both were spotted wearing rings with each other’s initials, and Madden called Hilton “wife material.”
In April, Hilton gushed on her MySpace blog: “I’ve never felt so happy and in love, [Benji] is such an amazing guy and life has never been better!”

Every now and then you read a story that is so out there, you think it has to be complete BS. But then again that story might be true? Anyways here is a story that is just that…Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton are all teaming to do a show together on HBO according to Bang Showbiz.
Hilton, Spears and Lohan were once close friends and were regulalry seen together on the party circuit in 2006.
The proposed show has been described as a cross between Friends and Ugly Betty.
“The chemistry between them will be electric,” a source told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper.
“They were very close and have had their ups and downs in the Los Angeles party world but they have overcome those problems now. They can draw from their experiences for the sitcom.”
Show chiefs are said to have approached Extras star Ricky Gervais and Desperate Housewives creator Mark Cherry to pen the script, which would see the trio playing characters inspired by themselves.
“Paris will play a fashion designer who will try anything to get her outfits noticed,” the source said.
“Britney’s character is an aspiring singer, but her unusual song lyrics stop her from hitting the big time.
“Lindsay will be a little like Joey from Friends.”
I might have believed the story a little more if they say that Gervais and Cherry were attached to it too. So if there was any truth to this story would you watch? I hate to admit, but I totally would because it would be great trash television!!!

Just call her chef Paris Hilton!
“[Benji Madden and I] watch movies and I cook really big dinners for him,” Hilton says on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (the episode airs Tuesday). “I’m an amazing cook!”
So what’s on the menu?
“My whole life, my Mom taught me we’re Italian,” says Hilton, 27.
The heiress says she’s spending a lot more quiet nights inside these days with her beau of seven months.
“Just my whole lifestyle is different,” she explains. “We don’t really go out as much anymore unless it’s for work. I just feel like an adult.”
“When you’re single, it’s different because you want to go out with your girlfriends and have fun,” she says. “But when you’re in relationship and you’re in love, there is no point in going out because you just want to be together and do normal things.
“I think for the first time I’m in a really great relationship with a guy I really trust and treats me really well and who would never hurt me,” she adds.
Hilton gives mutual pal Nicole Richie credit for hooking her up with Madden.
“We’ve been friends for seven years. And then when Nicole had the baby, I went over there, and we hung out and got a crush on each other,” Hilton says. “And then from there we were together.”

Paris Hilton appeared on ABC chatfest The View Thursday to promote her new MTV reality show.
Things took a frosty turn after they aired a clip of her infamous FunnyOrDie spot that spoofs Sen. John McCain.
“Too bad you can’t vote … because you were in the slammer,” co-host Joy Behar cracked. “My friend was in the slammer and couldn’t vote.”
Looking shocked, Hilton shot back, “I can vote.”
“Oh, it was just a misdemeanor?” Behar asked.
“Yes, I drove with a suspended license,” said Hilton.
It isn’t the first time the heiress has gotten riled up on-air.
In an October 2007 Late Show With David Letterman appearance, the late night host peppered her with question about her time in the slammer.
She grew visibly annoyed, wagged her legs in irritation and refused to comment.
The two later reconciled.

Paris Hilton dons a bikini for an ad for her new headband range.
Paris’ new range of headbands are the first interchangeable ones on the market, putting Paris amongst innovative thinkers – allegedly.
Paris says, “My goal was to bring myself and my personality to this project. I have been wearing extensions for years, and there is nothing out there like this product. Every woman should have one.”

Remember last year when Paris Hilton went on Larry King and lied her little ass off? Well, I’m assuming it is little. Is it large? Has anyone bothered to check lately? Anyway, when she went and lied to Larry, and Larry just opened wide Paris made a big point about how she was going to do charity and this and that and going to go to Rwanda and jail changed her and she never used drugs.
Well, right after the program, she started making arrangements to go to Rwanda, but then the people that were going to pay her bazillions of dollars to go decided instead to spend it on worthwhile things like medicine and food for the kids. Then, when Paris found out the only mirrors in the entire country were on the cars and trucks, she just said it was too much and made some kind of crap excuse why she couldn’t go. I believe she said that she would go when it was safe or other famous people went or something like that.
So, what made me think of this today? Because there is an interview and some photos today of Scarlett Johansson who just spent four days in the country visiting AIDS clinics with RED. Seems to me that RED is a great group and would have loved to have Paris along. Oh, I know it would have been inconvenient and that Paris would have actually had to keep a promise or follow through on something other than being a leech of biblical proportions.
On a side note, no one really knew Scarlett was in Rwanda until she was on her way back. If Paris had gone she would have filmed the entire thing and sold it as a reality show and would have beat her chest and announced to the world what a great citizen she is and that all people throughout the land should bow down to her and then go eat some cake.

Paris Hilton launched a television show to look for a new best friend who was hot, loyal and “paparazzi-ready” — and she says she found exactly what she was looking for.
Hilton, 27, the millionaire socialite, said some 300,000 Americans applied to take part in the reality series “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF” (Best Friend Forever), which begins airing on September 30 on MTV.
The 16 women and two men selected to compete had to perform a series of challenges to be Hilton’s new BFF, including how to look hot on a rollercoaster and making a commercial for one of her fashion products. She has now picked a winner with whom she said she has struck up a real, off-screen friendship.
“The person who won is now my best friend. We hang out. Yeah, we’re really friends,” Hilton told Reuters on Tuesday.
“We’ve been having barbecues and hanging out at the house. The winner and I have been pretty low-key so far, because it is top secret right now,” she said.
Hilton said the TV show prepared the contestants for life in Hollywood and hectic red carpet events, parties, and product launches — all under the constant glare of photographers.
“In my life you can get photographed at any time. You never know when paparazzi are going to be hiding around the corner. So my friend needs to be paparazzi-ready,” she said.
In her real-life friendships, Hilton says she values trust more than looking hot and says it was fun to meet people on the show who were not as jaded as the usual Hollywood crowd.
“They (the contestants) were so excited. We went on a private jet to Las Vegas and they had never been on a private plane. It was nice to really show them things they maybe never could do in their life. They were really appreciative and so sweet,” Hilton said.
As for her own qualities as a friend, Hilton said she was loyal, good at keeping secrets, truthful and generous.
“I will always tell you the truth. If you ask me if I like your outfit, if I don’t, I’ll say I don’t. I’m a lot of fun. I love showing my friends my world and enjoying life,” she said.
Hilton starts filming a second series of the show, this time set in England, next month and expects her new “friends” to be very different.
“London is my favorite city in the world. I love their accents, their attitude. They are so real, they are not fake. I feel that everyone in LA wants to be famous but in London it’s more about business.”

One clear fan of a new Paris Hilton documentary has a familiar name: Paris Hilton.
As she left the theater where “Paris, Not France” premiered Tuesday night at the Toronto International Film Festival, Hilton gave a few claps of applause after director Adria Petty was announced for a question-and-answer session to discuss the documentary.
With close access to Hilton, Petty shot extensive footage of Hilton talking about her image, her notorious sex tape, the tabloid photographers who follow her and just the business of being herself.
“I’m basically being judged, and they’re creating this false person, and I can’t do anything about it,” Hilton says in the film.
Featuring interviews with Hilton’s parents, sister Nicky, publicist Elliott Mintz and such personalities as Donald Trump, “Paris, Not France” follows her on business meetings, a promotional trip to Japan and everyday tasks such as getting a burger at a drive-thru while dozens of photographers take shots of her ordering.
“It’s amazing that this woman is a human being and that people actually can be ruthless enough to forget that,” Petty said. “That’s the one thing about this movie and about that experience with her is I could have just been shooting fluff, but she gave me a lot more.”
Before the Toronto premiere, Hilton posed for photos with Petty but did not talk to reporters. Outside the theater afterward, Hilton signed a few autographs before she was driven off in an SUV.
Petty said the idea was to create for this era a film like “Madonna: Truth or Dare,” the 1991 documentary that examined the phenomenon surrounding the pop singer.
Hilton has “created a mystery about herself that a film like this maybe wouldn’t have been a great thing for her in the past,” Petty said. “But now, she’s been so saturated in the media. We’re so used to her. To see a new side of her is so exciting.”

Paris Hilton has craftily manipulated the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival in an attempt to gain more publicity for a new documentary about herself.
The hotel heiress forced festival organizers to cancel two of three screenings of “Paris, Not France,” which is set to premiere Tuesday. Even a press screening was canceled.
Most movie mavens assumed Hilton was unhappy with her portrayal in the documentary and had sicced her lawyers on the producers, forcing them to scale back.
But Paris’ rep Jason Moore told Page Six: “We wanted to create more buzz - create some hype . . . We felt the impact would be more extreme if we had one screening.”
Miffed festival programmer Thom Powers told Post movie critic Lou Lumenick: “I wish we could do more, but it’s better than not showing it at all.”
Paris’ manipulation of the annual festival - considered the Cannes of Canada - stands to make more money for the movie when it is released commercially.
“She is a partner with the documentary and will be attending Tuesday’s screening in support of it,” Moore told us.
Asked whether Paris had a financial interest in the flick, Moore replied, “I can’t discuss that.”
The festival’s catalog says “Paris, Not France,” directed by music-video vet Adrian Petty - daughter of rocker Tom Petty - “explores the businesswoman and the human being behind the public persona.”
Petty received major cooperation from the Hilton family, getting full access to Paris and scoring in-depth interviews with her parents, Rick and Kathy Hilton; her sister, Nicky; and other family members.
Donald Trump, Camille Paglia and Michael Musto also weigh in.
It’s a far cry from her last “documentary,” “One Night in Paris,” the hard-core porn tape of herself shot by sleazy former beau Rick Salomon.

Hollyscoop says, Paris had recently blogged about working on a new album, but we wanted to know if her rocker beau Benji Madden would be making a cameo in it.
Paris said, “Well, actually I have a studio at the house. He [Benji] actually helped me write some of the songs for my new album, and for the BFF show. He’s a really amazing talent, songwriter and singer.”
So will there be a duet? Paris said, “Yes, definitely. When the show comes out.”
