Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett are among four Oscar-winning Australian actors who have been immortalised onto postage stamps in their home country.
Russell Crowe and Geoffrey Rush have also been honoured after the foursome were named legends of the year by the post office.
The special edition Australian stamps will make for essential movie memorabilia and can be bought online.
Each of the film stars gets two stamps - showing them both in and out of character.
Kidman is pictured in a scene from Moulin Rouge, Crowe’s stamp shows him in Gladiator, Rush’s is taken from Shine and Cate Blanchett’s from Elizabeth: The Golden Age.
The four Australian Academy Award winners have each received a 24-carat gold replica of the stamps and all were thrilled to be selected.
Kidman said: ‘Something like this - when you see your face on a stamp - says “wow”.’

The star added that she was excited her children would one day be able to ‘lick a stamp, put it on an envelope and say “that’s my mum.”‘
Blanchett said being selected to appear on stamp took ‘my breath away.’
‘I am utterly, deeply, humbled and chuffed by the fact I’m on a stamp,’ she said.
Crowe, who won his Oscar as Maximus in Gladiator, attended a special ceremony on Australia’s national holiday to mark the creation of the stamps.
He took to the stage alongside Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush, who said he felt that the stamps ‘can actually be a celebration of us’.
The Shine star noted he had grown up in the 1950s and 60s when ‘the only person on a stamp was the Queen.’
‘It’s a classy thing to know you’re on security paper,’ he said.
The Australian Post started its Australian Legend award in 1997 when cricketer Don Bradman was chosen.
The Oscar-winners were selected this year for their ‘outstanding contribution’ to entertainment and culture in Australia.
Kidman was awarded an Oscar in 2002 for her role in The Hours, while Blanchett received an Academy Award in 2005 for the Aviator.
Australia’s Prime Minister Kevin Rudd added: ‘The creative ability of Cate Blanchett, Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman and Geoffrey Rush has already been widely celebrated here in Australia and around the globe.
‘It is a rare tribute to be asked to appear on one of our nation’s postage stamps.’

Apparently Angelina Jolie is a trendsetter. Last week if you will recall she said she was going to give up acting at some point to focus on her family and also because I guess it is tough juggling films and pregnancies. It isn’t like she and Brad are hurting for cash on the homefront, so if she decided to retire in a few years, I think the only impact would be that maybe instead of a new jet every year, maybe they could only get one every two years. Well, with all the attention she got for saying that she might retire you would think that other actresses would be wanting to jump in with both feet to try and steal some of Angelina’s roles.
Well, not Nicole Kidman. Nicole is also thinking of retiring from acting. Not because she has not had a hit movie in forever and people are balking at paying her outrageous fee for flops, but because she too just wants to stay home and have more babies. Last night at the premiere of Australia, she said she couldn’t handle being away from her daughter and so she is just thinking about giving it all up for family.
Not to be outdone by the women, Chris Martin said in an interview yesterday that he is going to quit Coldplay next year when he turns 33 because he wants to spend time with his family and feels that all rockers should give up by the age of 33. I don’t know where he came up with that age, but I would gather by the time he hits about 33 and three months and realizes that not being a rocker means staying home with Gwyneth everyday that he will suddenly discover that perhaps 33 might be too young to retire after all.
I just love how these trends just become news. One week all the articles are about actors wanting to adopt. The next week all the articles are about how everyone cooks all their own food and then this week every person wants to retire. It’s like the publicists see what gets news and then tells their client to go ahead and say the same damn thing. Either that or every publicist has the same idea of the week calendar they all got for Christmas.

Nicole Kidman has no problem with the fact that her newborn daughter looks more like husband Keith Urban.
“It’s fine by me, having a little Keith-ette,” she tells December’s Glamour. “When he goes away, I can look at her and see him.”
But Urban is rarely out of her life: She says they’ve agreed never to be
apart for more than a week.
“We reduced it even more. I have reached a stage in my life when I want to
be with the ones I love,” says Kidman, who is being honored as one of
Glamour’s Women of the Year. “I used to be willing to do two weeks. And that is too much now; my heart aches.”
She also has put a pause on filming movies back-to-back.
“I’ve given a lot to my work, and I’m not willing to give as much to that anymore,” she says. “At this time in my life, I want to be giving to my relationships. And out of that, whatever work you do prospers because you
have more to give. [Pauses.] There’s something very primal about giving
birth. It puts you in a state of being very raw.”
Giving birth was easy, by the way.
“Keith was my rock during childbirth,” says the star, who has yet to hire a
daytime nanny. “I’d heard horror stories of 40 hours of labor, and I was
sure that would be me, but I had a very easy labor. And through it all,
Keith’s eyes gave me such strength.”
After giving birth in July, she says, “‘happy’ isn’t an all-encompassing-
enough word.
“I’m in a place of gratitude and humility. I don’t take any of it for
granted. I touch wood every day. The journey of life — we all go through it:
You have love, you lose love, you find new love. To have love again is a
beautiful thing,” she says.
She also says she learned a lot after her 2001 divorce with Tom Cruise.
“I went six years alone. I’m not saying it’s for everyone, but it’s better
to be alone than in a lousy relationship,” she says. “Work was my escape. I
was existing more strongly in my creative world than in my own world.”
She says she learned “how to stand on my own two feet. I had to find my own
identity, and my own reason for being here, and it couldn’t be because of
another person.”
Her advice to young women devastated by divorce?
“The sun always rises tomorrow,” Kidman says, “and through this shall come
light.”

Nicole Kidman wasn’t expecting to find love with Keith Urban.
“I didn’t foresee it, that you can meet somebody who you have a deep and more profound love with,” the actress - who divorced Tom Cruise in 2001 - tells November’s Elle.
“I don’t mean to take away anything with Tom, but I would hope that he has the same thing - I know he has the same thing with Katie,” Kidman adds. “You move into a stage where you’re able to be a more fuller person in your relationship.”
She continues, “I want to be really careful with that because I don’t want to take away from 11 years with that man that were really important. Really, for our kids — they were amidst a lot of love. It wasn’t bad. And now we’re amidst a more evolved love.”
Does she have any regrets about marrying Cruise at the young age of 22?
“Um, no. Would I want my kids to get married at that age? No!” Kidman says. “But that was an extraordinary thing for me. [Tom] taught me an enormous amount — as a girl into a woman. Absolutely, I would do it again.”
(Seeing Cruise move on was tough, however: Her pal Lauren Bacall says that Kidman was “unhappy on the set of 2003’s Dogville. “Tom had taken off for Penelope Cruz or some g—–n thing — one of his more ridiculous moves,” Bacall says. Taking a slight jab at the actor, she tells Elle, “Tom Cruise is a maniac. I can’t understand the way he conducts his life.”)
Kidman also opens up to Elle about being a mother at age 41.
“At 41, it’s more of a painful love. I look at that little girl, and I’m like, ‘Oh, no, what’s going to happen?’ It’s almost like my heart is stretching; I’m feeling all the muscles stretch with emotion. It’s a beautiful love, but there’s a lot of fear and pain for her life, and for Bella’s and Connor’s life.
“I like to believe that nothing was stopping Sunday from coming into the world,” she adds.
(Incidentally, she denies reports she named her daughter after early 20th-century artist Sunday Reed. “That’s a myth,” she says. “We just liked the name.”)
“When it comes to my kids, I’m just like a lioness,” Kidman says. “I’m like, ‘No one gets near my babies! That’s why we chose not to sell photos of her. We just want to have our little cocoon.”
Urban is equally protective of Kidman.
“He’s the greatest man besides my dad I’ve ever met,” the actress says. “He’s loyal and he’s a soul searcher.”
She adds, “Keith gave me a life. He gave me a home.”

There’s no doubt she is Mummy’s girl.
Nestled in Nicole Kidman’s arms, two-month-old Sunday Rose showed off a smattering of strawberry blonde hair.
And although Nicole Kidman wore a cap as she carried her daughter in London on Friday, the few strands that escaped were a perfect match.
The Australian actress, 41, is filming in the capital and has spent a month rehearsing for the musical Nine, with Penelope Cruz and Kate Hudson. She is expected to be here until Christmas.
Miss Kidman gave birth to Sunday Rose, named after the Australian art collector Sunday Reeve, in July, in Nashville, Tennessee, where she lives with her husband, the country singer Keith Urban, 40. He is with her in the UK.

She also has two adopted children with ex-husband Tom Cruise - Isabella, 15, and Connor, 13. She and Urban are reportedly planning to move to LA to be closer to them.
But although Sunday Rose is small enough to pick up and go, Miss Kidman may find her entourage a little less portable. It consists of a nanny, a chef, a driver, a bodyguard and a PA.
Miss Kidman recently attributed the ‘miracle’ birth of her daughter to the health-giving pristine waters in which she swam while filming in a remote location in Western Australia.

Nicole told The Australian Women’s Weekly: ‘I never thought that I would get pregnant and give birth to a child but it happened on this movie.
‘Seven babies were conceived out of this film and only one was a boy.
‘There is something up there in the Kununurra water because we all went swimming in the waterfalls, so we can call it the fertility waters now.’

Even while pregnant with daughter Sunday, many were amazed that Nicole Kidman still managed to keep her svelte figure.
Now, in a new interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly, the 41-year-old actress opens up about her relatively small bump.
“I’m so lucky I’m so tall, so I carried small,” the 5′ 10 1/2″ star says. “Also, I have to say, I had a birth that I was blessed with, a labor that was very good and a baby that was very good to me in that regard.”
Kidman and husband Keith Urban welcomed Sunday, who weighed 6 lbs., 7 oz., in July.
But the actress, who had suffered a miscarriage with ex Tom Cruise, admits she wasn’t expecting to get pregnant at age 41.
She says “fertility waters” may have played a role.
During production of her upcoming romance Australia, she says she and six other women who swam in the waters of a small Outback town all got pregnant.
“I never thought that I would get pregnant and give birth to a child, but it happened on this movie,” Kidman says.
Seven babies were conceived out of this film and only one was a boy,” she continues. “There is something up there in the Kununurra water because we all went swimming in the waterfalls, so we can call it the fertility waters now.”
If newborn daughter Sunday, she says, “To be given this again is a beautiful thing. To have raised Bella and Connor since I was 25 and now to be able to do it again at 41 … wow!”

This pregnancy of Nicole Kidman’s keeps getting better and better. Not content with just going about her daily business, instead we are treated to incessant stories about her pregnancy. This time she has even turned her pregnancy into some kind of Australian mythical miracle. In an interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly, Kidman said the reason she didn’t have much of a baby bump is because she is so tall. Uh huh.”I’m so lucky I’m so tall, so I carried small. Also, I have to say, I had a birth that I was blessed with, a labor that was very good and a baby that was very good to me in that regard.”
Well sure the baby was good to her in that regard because I’m not convinced it actually came out of her, so, yes, it was probably a very easy labor. The other thing that gets me about that quote is how formal it is. There is no joy or emotion in her words. It’s like she’s a doctor describing a procedure. Probably a procedure she was there watching.
But, none of the above or any of the crap she has spewed before compares with this little ditty. That’s ditty, not Diddy. A ditty is a tale, Diddy is a man ho.
So, what kind of story is she spreading? Well she says that during the filming, she and six other women all went bathing in these waterfalls. Only seven women went, and all of them got pregnant. Wow, isn’t that the greatest coincidence in the history of the world. Oh, and Nicole’s baby? The only boy. Yep, he’s the chosen one of the 7 babies. I guess maybe at some point he is supposed in life he is supposed to get the other six pregnant so they can continue the legend.
Umm, don’t you think that someone like People or the publicity department for Australia would have latched onto this compelling human interest bit and made a story about it? None of the other six women has ever mentioned it? Did Nicole swear them to secrecy? Again, I think she talks way too much about this pregnancy. Everytime she opens her mouth, it just makes me believe her less. Just go on with your life and I’ll wait until the kid turns 18 and the DNA test. Then you can say that one day you woke up pregnant and that you think it was Xenu who did it, but you were afraid to say anything.

You know the expression what’s in the water when several people get pregnant that work together, well Nicole Kidman is asking just that according to The Daily Telegraph.
“I never thought that I would get pregnant and give birth to a child but it happened on this movie,” Kidman told The Australian Women’s Weekly.
“Nothing happened in a small way on this film … We had heat and torrential rains and equine flu and then I got pregnant.
“Seven babies were conceived out of this film and only one was a boy. There is something up there in the Kununurra water because we all went swimming in the waterfalls, so we can call it the fertility waters now.”
Wonder if that water is really fertility waters because if it is it should be bottled up and given to women all over the world. But chances are it was just luck that 7 women who worked on the movie Australia all conceived.
