Natalie Portman says she isn’t cozying up to Sean Penn.

“Sean Penn is a friend and colleague,” the actress, 27, said*. “The reports that we are romantically involved are completely untrue.”

Tabloid Star magazine claimed that Penn, 48 — who recently filed for legal separation from his wife of 13 years, Robin Wright Penn — and Portman were “making out” at West Hollywood’s Sunset Tower Hotel in March.

The New York Post reported today the pair have been “cavorting.”

But Portman continues: “I normally do not respond to rumors about my private life, however, this repeatedly fabricated story has forced me to do so.”

Both Penn and Portman served on the jury of the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.

Penn — who won his second Best Actor Oscar for his role in Milk earlier this year — initially filed for divorce from Wright Penn, 43, in 2007, but his petition was later dismissed. Three days later, she filed her own paperwork. In April 2008, the couple’s divorce petition was dismissed at their request.

Portman split from indie rocker Devendra Banhart last September after four months of dating.

Natalie Portman was spotted on the “Hesher” film set in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

On this film set, Natalie Portman wrestles one of her costars to the gymnastics mat and shows off her floral panties.

The film centers on a loser twentysomething (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who invades the life of an awkward 13-year-old who is living with a pill-popping father (Rainn Wilson) and grandmother.

The “V for Vendetta” beauty plays a supermarket worker for whom the kid falls for after she saves him from a bully.

A “humanity award” for social commitment has been dedicated to Natalie Portman during the Venice Film Festival.

Those behind the award said Portman was seriously involved with important social and environmental programmes.

They include the Tacare Girl’s Scholarship Programme of the Jane Goodall Institute, a non-profit organisation that carries out wildlife research in Tanzania.

The programme was established to address limited opportunities for women’s education.

It provides access to secondary and higher education, leading to job opportunities.

Portman’s prize is 50,000 US dollars and a trophy. The cash she receives is being donated to the programme, organisers said.

Academy Award-winning Italian set designer Dante Ferretti, who worked on The Aviator and Sweeney Todd, was named as the recipient of the “star of the year” award.

The prizes were being awarded at the Kineo Italian Movie Awards in Venice.

Actress Natalie Portman has dropped out the big-screen adaptation of Wuthering Heights over conflicts in her busy schedule.The Hollywood star was set to play the film’s lead role, Cathy Earnshaw, in John Maybury’s take on the classic Emily Bronte novel, but had to quit the project for an unknown movie project.Portman was slated to appear opposite German actor Michael Fassbender, who will play the iconic Heathcliff in the film.Movie bosses at Ecosse Films are said to be determined to shoot the movie on schedule and are currently searching for a replacement for Portman.

Natalie Portman attempted to put on a brave face as a mysterious hand hung over her shoulder doing a photo call at the year’s Cannes Film Festival. Portman said that it could’ve been worse; after all, that mystery hand could’ve been grabbing her in her bathing suit area. Portman knew it had to one of her fellow jury members, but she thought it was too soon to be so handsy with her. Portman reportedly said, “We just met at brunch a couple of hours ago, but I need a bit more than a conversation over some crêpes before you can just willy-nilly throw your hand on me like you’re Bob Dylan or something.”

I’m way too lazy to look it up, but a few months ago I wrote a post about Wuthering Heights and how the UK was all in a tizzy because the producers were going to cast American actors. Well, they did cast Natalie Portman and she then proceeded to give them a list of demands which they met, and then after that she said she wasn’t interested and backed out of the project.

Thanks a bunch Natalie. You basically have ruined it for everyone now. Instead of doing what you were supposed to be doing, you are probably back in New York hanging out with that tool of a boyfriend of yours who walks around with a c**k as his glasses. Yes, it’s true, and odd that her boyfriend and another guy went sex toy shopping together. I don’t know about the rest of you but when I go sex toy shopping I don’t usually take along another guy.

Meanwhile because she told everyone she was going to do the part, Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley both have committed to other projects. Here is my advice to the producers. As I mentioned in my previous post there have been about 100 different Wuthering Heights projects. What I suggest is you go the Airplane! or Scary Movie route and just make it a spoof on all the other period pieces. Sure, no one will get your references, but throw in some nudity and some fart jokes and you will probably get more ticket sales than the way you are going now. I mean the only people who are going to see it are, well, honestly, no one. How did you get financing for this thing anyway?

Reports today confirm that Natalie Portman will join would be sexy nurse Scarlett Johansson as a first-time director in the short-film compilation New York, I Love You. First known as the movie where that Hasidic dude  walked out on co-star Portman, then better known as the one where contributing director Anthony Minghella hand-picked replacement Shekhar Kapur before he  died, NYILY is finding its latest momentum as the film featuring everyone from Brett Ratner to Orlando Bloom to Cloris Leachman pimping out for the city tourism board. “NYC & Co., the official marketing and tourism organization for the City of New York, is fully behind the pic, throwing its weight into sponsorship deals,” writes Variety’s Dade Hayes. “A major airline is in final talks to help ferry talent to and from the city and promote the film on its aircraft, for example.” The producers, however, cite an “explicit auteur approach” that will keep the art front-and-center, promising Johansson the latitude to fire a maximum of 10 PA’s as she learns to flex her megalomaniacal muscle behind the camera. When we first saw pictures of Natalie Portman walking through New York  with her new boyfriend, we initially thought Nat had started volunteering at her local homeless shelter, acting as a mentor for one lucky (and possibly blind) hobo. But then they made out. So who is this caveman-esque guy and what on earth is Natalie thinking? While at first glance folksy singer Devendra Banhart hardly looks like a pretty boy, we found some far more flattering shots of Natalie’s new arm candy with his guitar from years ago. And even if Devendra’s put on a pound or two since they were taken, we still had to do a double take and make sure we weren’t looking at photos of Jim Morrison himself. But just as we were ready to forgive Devendra for his silly name and give our stamp of approval, we read that his latest album was called Little Boys. And he really does sing about…little boys. As Banhart told Stereogum, he “watched the movie Chicken Hawk: Men Who Love Boys, about NAMBLA…swimming in my head was the idea of a song about a schizophrenic hermaphrodite with the male and female physical characteristics in one body.” And suddenly that shaggy beard and set of piercing dark eyes looked less Morrison and more Manson.
