It’s a clothes call for Lauren Conrad!
One month after the 23-year-old designer announced that she was taking a hiatus from her upscale clothing line, the Hills star reveals that she is launching a brand-new apparel line for Kohl’s department stores.
“It is a California chic line,” she tells Usmagazine.com of the new brand, called LC Lauren Conrad. “It is a little more casual. They are basically trying to take that California style and make it accessible everywhere.”
The line — which will consist of only apparel at first but may expand to include shoes, jewelry, handbags, intimates and sleepwear — will be available in October exclusively at Kohl’s stores and on the store’s website. The prices will range from $20 to $60.
“We are very excited to announce our partnership with Lauren Conrad, a pop culture icon whose style resonates with our contemporary customer,” Don Brennan, the senior vice president of Kohl’s, told Us in a statement Monday.
He added: “We are confident the LC Lauren Conrad collection brings customers both the contemporary style and the world-class brands they want at a price that delivers incredible value.”
So why did she decide to take time off from the Lauren Conrad Collection — which is more expensive and only available in select boutiques — to create the national Kohl’s line?
“It was just kind of a battle I had because I wanted to do a higher-end line — I wanted to do a contemporary line — but I was also very aware that the reason I was able to do it at such a young age was because of fans that have supported the show and have supported me,” Conrad tells Us. “So this was my way of being able to still do what I love and work with a great company and also make it accessible to the fans that made it possible in the first place.”
Plus, the star admits that she has shopped at the store.
“My family has always shopped at Kohl’s, so I’ve always known about them and I think that they do a really great job,” Conrad says of the franchise, which has also partnered with designer Vera Wang.
Conrad’s personal collection will be back next spring, and she tells us that fans could pair styles from both of her lines.
“I like having more of an eclectic style where you mix high ends and more affordable pieces,” she says. “It’s great to be able to go to a store like Kohl’s and get really good classic pieces and mix them into your wardrobe.”

Lauren Conrad may have one more season left on “The Hills,” but she won’t actually be filming anything from this point on — an insider says all of LC’s antics are already in the can.
According to our source, Conrad’s contract with MTV expired in March; the star celebrated the end of her reality life with cast members at a party at L.A. eatery Beso last month. But that bash was her last “real” day of filming — and producers soon had the task of coming up with enough Conrad footage to keep fans happy through the entire season.
Their solution? Taping as much LC as they could before she left for good.
“The producers would make Lauren react to a lot of potential scenarios, because they’re not yet sure how the finale will play out with the other characters,” says our source. “They would literally give her directions like, ‘Now react to Stephanie Pratt being pregnant!’ Lauren would just giggle and go for it. She also had to pretend to react to a fake story line about Audrina and Brody hooking up.”
A rep for MTV said both the contract and filming allegations are untrue. “We couldn’t cut a show with Lauren’s fake reactions,” said the flack.
Either way, Conrad is reportedly relieved to be over “The Hills” and heading far away. “Now that she’s finished out her contract, Lauren is completely done with the show,” says the source. “She’s already capitalized on her success — she’s taken this ride as far as she can.”
If Lauren is glad to be done with “The Hills,” her co-star Heidi Montag is doubly glad to be done with Lauren.
“We don’t need her,” Conrad’s frenemy sniped recently. “We’ll miss her — I just don’t know if we need her.”
LC’s nemesis added, “I know she hasn’t been wanting to be doing this for a while, and [the life she really leads] is not on camera. So I think it’s a closing chapter for her. [Lauren’s] gotta leave the dramas to the pros!”
From the looks of things, LC won’t have any problems passing the torch.

It must suck to be Lauren Conrad and have no one even care who you are. According to the NY Post, Lauren was taking a flight to somewhere where she was loved. Probably Russia. I mean if Jessica Simpson can open a movie number one there, then you know Lauren Conrad is close to a God there. Anyway, the ticket agent asked on the PA system for Lauren to come to the counter and get a ticket. Well apparently she freaked out about this because she didn’t want anyone to know she was there. She cried and screamed and just broke down.
Then of course she began scanning the crowd hysterically looking for someone she was going to ignore. I mean you know she just wanted to do that, but unfortunately for her, no one at JFK even looked up from what they were doing and didn’t even care that she was there. Must suck to think you are going to get mobbed and instead see hundreds of people who don’t even care and probably don’t even know who you are. Presumably she then grabbed the microphone and told people who she was and that she was famous and that they should all bow down to her before entering the aircraft.

David Letterman jokingly told Lauren Conrad what he really thinks about The Hills during his Monday night show.
When questioning Conrad, 22, about her former feud with Heidi Montag, he said: “That raises the question…maybe you’re the problem, you think?”
(The girls reunited at a dinner party following Conrad’s spring runway show a few weeks ago.)
Letterman also dissed Spencer Pratt - again.
“Now that Spencer, what a weasel,” Letterman said. “He’s just the worst, that guy… what’s his deal?”
Admitted Conrad: “I don’t know.”
Letterman complained of his last interview with Pratt, saying, “He had some big giant watch on….”
“He was probably checking his 15 minutes!” shot back Conrad.
Brody Jenner didn’t escape the barbs either.
“What does he do?” Letterman quizzed.
“Well, he, um, he’s very good-looking,” Conrad said. “And he’s been on The Hills, he works on a jewelry line, he has a clothing line, he has a show, Bromance, he helped produce….”
Said Letterman: “If there was no television, this guy would be living in a tree. I don’t know what that means!”
Conrad stopped by the show to talk about her work for Mark, a subsidiary of Avon. The Hills star is attending the Avon Foundation Hope Honors Gala Wednesday night to celebrate her help in raising $250,000 to donate to seven different organizations to educate and prevent partner violence against young women.
Later Monday night, Conrad was spotted out to dinner in NYC’s meatpacking district with her actor beau, Kyle Howard.

Lauren Conrad is gearing up for her second run at L.A. fashion week with her self-titled clothing line, and the reality starlet is opening up about a fire scare, friendships in the media, Whitney’s spin-off show “The City” — and why she may be ready to say adieu to “The Hills!”
“It’s coming to a point where I love this show so much, but I’m ready to kind of walk away,” Lauren admits of her hit MTV show. “I’ve been doing it for five years now. Five years on TV is a really, really long time.”
The fashion designer recently had a scare in the wake of the wildfires burning their way through Southern California. “Where I have my production offices — there were fires all around them and there was no electricity. My entire collection was there and they couldn’t get to them.” L.C. said. “They actually just got into the factory and were evacuated again but they luckily had all of the samples with them.”
The former “Laguna Beach” girl also dished on how the media attention has affected relationships with her gal pals, saying, “It makes it more difficult. It’s more difficult when not only everyone knows about your problems, but they make them worse because things escalate and things get twisted. It’s hard to have an actual friendship be torn apart in the media.”
Most recently, Lauren has been dealing with media flack after rumors swirled that she hooked up with BFF Audrina’s ex-beau, Justin Bobby. While L.C. and Audrina haven’t gone into details about the rift, Patridge recently revealed to “Extra” that she was done with the motorcycle-riding bad boy, stating, “We aren’t together anymore.”
Lauren’s former friends are the least of her worries on the eve of her second fashion week runway show. “I’ll be stressed up until it’s done,” Conrad admits. The fashionista picked the final hair and makeup looks at Warren-Tricomi Salon in Los Angeles for tonight’s show. “The whole show I wanted to do really girly — I wanted to have fun with it.”
Conrad also dished about fellow designer and friend Whitney Port, saying, “Whitney and I have opposite styles. They’re different styles, different lines, and different price points.” As for Port’s upcoming reality show, “The City,” Conrad commented, “I’m so proud of her for this next show. I think that in ‘The Hills,’ she never really let them film her personal life… She hasn’t really experienced the whole ‘put your personal life on TV’ thing.”
So will Conrad make a cameo on “The City?” The starlet responded, “Not that I know of. That’s Whitney’s deal. I’ll be watching.”

Hills star Lauren Conrad is denying reports that she had a fling with Justin Bobby, the on/off boyfriend of her former roommate Audrina Patridge.
“I’m being accused of being a bad friend, a slut and a liar all at once. It would actually be funny to me if people weren’t taking it seriously,” Conrad told Usmagazine.com on Friday.
She continued: “The worst thing is knowing that a friend, that I’ve known for years and even shared a home with, thinks that I’m capable of that kind of betrayal. I would never hurt a friend like that!”
PerezHilton.com reported that Patridge learned of the alleged hookup about a week ago, from a friend of Bobby’s.
When confronted, Justin admitted to Audrina that he and L.C. hooked up,”a source told PerezHilton.com
Conrad’s take on the situation? She implied it had something to do with Spencer Pratt.
“Once again someone has mysteriously called Perez Hilton and had him post another insane and completely false rumor about me,” she blogged on her MySpace page on Friday. “Hmmmmmm… I wonder who it could be? I’m baffled… What kind of person would enjoy watching blogs and the press tear me apart? Who is someone that I do not get along with, that possibly has too much time on his hands (between pathetically staged paparazzi shots).”
Conrad also took a shot at Bobby.
“Do they think I was swept away by his wonderful manners and his commitment to my friend?” Conrad wrote. “I love it when guys burp in my face. So hot!”
She added: “I have never even been in the same place as Justin when Audrina wasn’t around. I have been there for Audrina for years of ups and downs with this guy. Now she is accusing me of hooking up with him?”
Conrad concluded her post with a personal message to Patridge.
“You know I didn’t do this and I have never given you a reason not to trust me,” Conrad wrote. “Whoever is telling you these things does not have your best interest at heart. You asked me if I did this and I told you I didn’t.”

It was as inevitable as another Speidi photo op: The acting bug has bitten Lauren Conrad.
Enduring no hazing whatsoever, the leading lady of MTV’s The Hills (and this week’s EW cover girl) has signed on to appear in an episode of ABC Family’s addictive college soap, Greek. However, the gig won’t require her to go all Meryl Streep on us: She’ll be doing what she does best, playing herself in the show’s second season finale on Oct. 28.
Explains series creator Sean Smith, Conrad — who will shoot her scene in early September — is going to play a spiritual adviser to Spencer Grammer’s character. “It’s a dream sequence in which Casey and LC are best friends. Casey has a big decision she has to make, and she’s like, ‘LC, what do I do? Advise me!’” he reveals, adding that the girls’ dynamic reminds him of “when Frankie Avalon is telling Frenchie what do to in Grease. Casey holds LC in that high esteem.”
Although there are no direct Hills references in the script, Smith says the scene has a vibe that definitely calls the unreality show to mind. “There are a lot of ‘likes’ to make it sound more conversational.” And there’s gotta be at least one of The Hills’ trademark dramatic pauses… right? “There isn’t,” Smith laughs, “but that might change now.” (It’s worth noting that MTV had to sign off on the script.)
Programming note: Greek kicks off its second season on Aug. 26 in its new Tuesday time slot following The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
