Yes, today marks the release of Circus, as well as Britney’s highly anticipated GMA performance. But let us not forget that today is Britney’s 27th birthday, so before all the craziness kicks off, we’d like to take a moment to wish my girl a very, VERY happy birthday.

Never mind her drinking, her crazy driving and her stay in the loony bin. Britney Spears knows where her sons, Preston, 3, and Jayden, 2, get their bad habits: from their father, Kevin Federline.

“They’re so smart, yet so innocent,” she says. “It’s weird ’cause they’re starting to learn words like ‘stupid,’ and Preston says the F-word sometimes. He doesn’t get it from us. He must get it from his daddy. I say it, but not around my kids.”

Thankfully, “I think they look like me,” she tells Rolling Stone. “They don’t look like their father at all.”

Britney, who comes in contact with “my babies’ daddy” only when he drops the them off, sees the boys three days a week. “Like, they’re going to preschool now! I went there to pick them up on Friday, and seeing them in their little classroom and seeing Jayden being bad or not listening? It’s like, those are mine, and it’s just crazy, you know what I mean?”

Uh, yeah.

Spears also blames K-Fed for the failure of their marriage, saying it surprised her: “I didn’t think my husband was gonna leave me.”

But she is starting to see other men — and not just paparazzi. Accompanied by her staff, she’s gone on at least two dates.

The first guy was “an older version of Harry Potter, but skinnier.” It went so badly that she ordered dessert first, just to get the date over with.

Her second outing was with a much older guy who was into martial arts. “We’re trying to ask him questions, like, ‘Okay, you’re into martial arts, so what kind of martial arts are you into?” And he was like, ‘Oh, all kinds.’ But you know how silly we are, so we were just cracking up.”

Meanwhile, Spears, whose new CD, “Circus,” is about to drop, tells MTV: “I think I married for all the wrong reasons. Instead of following my heart and, like, doing something that made me really happy … I just did it because … for just, like, the idea of everything.”

I wouldn’t say no to the possibility it might be true, but according to The Enquirer, Kevin Federline has been calling Britney Spears and apologizing for not being the best husband in the world and has been trying to make a fresh start with Britney.

According to the unnamed source who is not even identified as a friend or even knowing Kevin, says that Kevin told Britney that Britney is the love of his life and soul mate and was sorry things went wrong. Of course now that he sees Britney has a new album coming out that might actually do decently and a possible tour he knows she is going to need an opening act.

Have you noticed that we have not heard much of the musical stylings of Kevin Federline since he and Britney split. Apparently his enthusiasm for music was only alive and well when paid for by his ex-wife’s pocketbook. Oh, I’m sure if you asked him he would say that he is writing and working on new tracks everyday and that he is working with some great people, and all they need is some distribution. Uh huh. What that translates to is sitting around the house smoking pot, reciting lyrics and waiting for the phone to ring.

Wasn’t the whole split with Kevin what initially started Britney off the deep end. I don’t know. Maybe they are right for each other. I can’t see Britney with anyone else. I also don’t see her ever getting rid of her dad, because if she does, she won’t be able to keep it together.

What do you think? Do you think she and Kevin should get back together? Does it make sense? Would he just be using her? Would it be love? I don’t have a clue.

PROFESSIONAL party-attendee Kevin Federline was looking for a new “Brit” the other night. The famous ex of Britney Spears was at Coco de Ville in LA “staring at Brittny Gastineau while she was waiting in line for the bathroom,” said our spy. Federline, who has custody of his and Spears’ sons, “wouldn’t stop checking her out, up and down, but Brittny was not interested.” A rep for Federline had no comment.

In his first public appearance since he was granted sole custody of his two sons with Britney Spears earlier this month, Kevin Federline hit the links Tuesday.

Asked how he is doing these days, the single dad told PEOPLE: “Been having a good summer, I can’t complain.”

Federline, 30, who spoke to PEOPLE at skateboarder Ryan Sheckler’s X Games Celebrity Skins Classic, outside L.A., said he’s been balancing career and parenting. “I’ve worked here and there a little bit,” he said. “Definitely staying at home with the family.”

As for how sons Jayden, 1 1/2, and Preston, 2 1/2, are doing, Federline said, “They’re good.”

He was tight-lipped, however, when it came to Spears or how he’s moved on from their court battle. A July 18 agreement ended the nearly two-year case, with Federline retaining sole custody of the boys, and his child support being bumped up to $20,000 from $15,000.

“I’m not here to talk about that,” he said.

Federline, who played the Trump National Golf Club course with a friend, wore baggy shorts and sneakers, smoked cigarettes off the golf course, drank iced coffee, and drove his own golf cart. He took practice shots on the driving range before the game, but both of his shots on the Hole in One competition missed.

“I tried to warm up before I got here, but…” Federline laughed. “It’s going to be one of those up-and-down days. We’ll have to see how it goes.”

He also said on the red carpet, with a smile, that his children know when their father is at play. “They know when daddy’s golfing,” he said.

Federline was mum about his future work plans. His last rap CD, Playing with Fire, came out in 2006. The musician said he’s still a hip-hop fan.

“I don’t know, I’m going to make everybody wait on that,” Federline said. “I’m not revealing any work strategy right now.”

Britney Spears made a surprise appearance at a fundraiser for Jenny McCarthy’s autism charity Generation Rescue Saturday in Los Angeles.

As guests like McCarthy’s beau and Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller made the rounds, Spears, 26, sipped on red wine.

Carrey’s daughter Jane also belted out a few Frank Sinatra and Jackson 5 tunes.

Spears, 26, “definitely looked happy,” a witness tells Usmagazine.com. “She was clapping and smiling a lot.”

It was Spears’ first public outing since reaching a custody agreement with ex Kevin Federline last week.

While Federline gets sole custody, Spears gets three visits a week from Sean Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden James, 1 1/2, including two overnights.

If all goes well, she could have her boys roughly 40 percent of the time, her attorney, Laura Wasser, has said.

Wasser told the Associated Press the “difference” in Spears “from the beginning of this year to now is astonishing.”

Spears is spending her summer recording a new album.

Britney Spears’s custody settlement with her ex Kevin Federline, in which he retained sole custody of the couple’s two sons, came at a price.

A source close to the singer confirms she’ll now pay Federline $20,000 a month in child support, an increase from $15,000.

Federline’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, also demanded and received $250,000 for his work on the case, the source adds.

“All Britney was seeking was a formalization of her increased visitation that she’s obtained over recent weeks, and the additional overnight,” the source said. “She won both of those requests.”

Spears, who is represented by lawyer Laura Wasser, currently sees her sons twice a week with one overnight. The source adds that she will get an additional overnight by year’s end, barring any setbacks.

At a press conference following Friday’s hearing, Kaplan declined to address any monetary settlement. “This has been a long ordeal [for Kevin],” Kaplan said, “and for it to be over makes him very happy.”

Britney Spears and her ex Kevin Federline have reached a custody settlement in their epic court battle over their two sons – averting a scheduled trial.

According to the agreement, which still needs to be signed off on by the court, Federline retains sole custody of the couple’s two sons, Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden, 1 1/2. Spears – who’s currently allowed two visits and one overnight per week – will get more visitation rights.

“The case has been settled,” Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan (working with attorney James Simon), tells PEOPLE. “This is the end of a two-year journey.”

Spears’s attorney, Laura Wasser, said outside the courtroom after the hearing: “Britney’s doing great. She’s very pleased [with the settlement]. The kids are with her right now.”

Without giving details, Wasser confirmed that Spears did win “more custodial time” with the boys. A source close to Spears confirms the singer will gain an additional overnight by year’s end, barring any setbacks.

Spears, 26, and Federline, 30, split in November 2006. When their divorce was finalized in July 2007, they shared 50-50 custody. But things took a dramatic turn when Spears – the pop powerhouse worth an estimated $100 million – was twice forcibly hospitalized early this year for mental health issues.

Spears lost all visitation rights with her kids until the following month, and her father Jamie stepped in to take legal control of her affairs.

Despite the settlement, a judge can always modify custody arrangements.

“Until the kids turn 18, we can expect in years to come that Britney and Kevin will be back in court,” says L.A. family lawyer Lynn Soodik, who is not involved with the case. “Britney will have a better chance of winning more custody once she regains her health. This is just the end of Round One.”

E! was first to report the couple’s settlement.

Earlier this week, they released pictures of Spears and manager Larry Rudolph leaving a music studio, and said in a statement that she’s “spending her summer in the recording studio, working on a brand-new album.” But one music industry heavyweight said, “Britney wants to focus on her TV and movie career right now. Jive and Larry are having trouble getting her to record, so they forced her hand with the statement and photo releases.”

He may have partied till nearly dawn, but parenting was on the mind of Kevin Federline Friday night into Saturday morning – capping a week in which he and ex Britney Spears seem destined for a custody showdown.

“Kevin was in a great mood and even talked about a new song he is working on, called ‘Daddy’s Home,’ ” says a source at Mansion on South Beach – where K-Fed (as host) and his party of 10 and a security guard stayed until 4 a.m. Saturday, following a late dinner at Miami’s Michy’s, an intimate and upscale restaurant.

“He has put a lot of time and effort into writing and rehearsing it, but says it is not quite ready yet,” the source tells PEOPLE.

At Mansion, Federline, dressed in an over-sized, blue, long-sleeved, oxford shirt and jeans, spent much of the night chatting with the club’s host Lyndon Smith, another single dad. “We talked about our kids and parenting and what that’s all about,” Smith says.

Although multiple bottles of champagne were sent to Federline, he preferred to drink water. Not that the bubbly went to waste – he sprayed an entire bottle on the dancing crowd.

Scrubs star Zach Braff and Donald Faison, with Cacee Cobb, Jessica Simpson’s former assistant, came late and hung with Federline while he danced with his group of friends, including one guy from his hometown.

Good Dance Moves
“Kevin is a great dancer with some very complicated moves,” says another source at Mansion. “He wasn’t with any one girl in particular. He was friendly and nice to everyone and in a wonderful mood.”

Federline, 30, had been seen in the late afternoon checking into the Gansevoort Hotel on South Beach, where he asked staffers to call him “Kevin” and even signed autographs.

“Kevin seemed happy and was very gracious,” says an eyewitness. “He stopped and took photos with anyone who asked.”

Sometimes rapper/sometimes actor Kevin Federline offered up a rave review of the in-flight entertainment after deplaning in Miami. K-Fed was surprised that the airplane would have first run movies like Step Up 2 The Streets and 10,000 BC. K-Fed said, “As a dad, I don’t get to go out to movies too often. It’s either, I’m just kicking back with the kids, watching Yo Gabba Gabba! or I’m jetting off to a night club in La Puente to do an appearance. It was nice to just sit back, throw on some head phones and catch up with high quality cinema.” Federline was looking forward to his flight back to Los Angeles because he heard that they were going to show Horton Hears A Who.

Toxic singer Britney Spears is fearing she won’t live to see her 28th birthday, according to the author of a shocking new book about the wild singer. Biographer and journalist Ian Halperin spent 18 months studying the pop star, as an undercover paparazzo, getting close to the star and her close inner circle. And now he’s writing all about his findings in a new book which he hopes to have on shelves by next Christmas. Amid all the alleged claims of drug abuse, bipolar problems and suicidal tendencies, Halperin states Spears told him personally she fears she will die at 27.The biographer, who ironically penned a book about Kurt Cobain - who lost his life at 27, tells Life & Style magazine, “She told me she feared she’d die at age 27 (her current age), just like other music stars, like Janis Joplin and Kurt Cobain.” Joplin and Cobain aren’t the only members of the sinister 27 Club - rock greats Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Brian Jones all perished before their 28th birthday.Spears turns 28 on December 2nd.

Britney Spears has more important things to worry about than court dates.

Like her future niece.

While Spears’ criminal attorney was in court in Van Nuys, Calif., asking for another extension in the pop star’s pending criminal case regarding her driving-without-a-valid-license charge, Spears herself was on a Delta flight heading to Louisiana to be by sister Jamie Lynn’s side for the birth of her first child.

In an apparent cost-cutting effort, the “Gimme More” singer, who typically jets around on private planes, flew commercial. She quietly slipped out of her gated community around 5 a.m. and headed with her dad, Jamie, and brother, Bryan, to Los Angeles International Airport, where they boarded a Delta flight to New Orleans, an hour ride from the Spears homestead in Kentwood.

Her flight landed at 12:53 p.m. CT, and Britney headed straight to mother Lynne’s house.

Jamie Lynn, 17, is having a child (reportedly a girl) with fiancé Casey Aldridge, 19, and is set to give birth any day now, sources tell E! News.

Britney, 26, had previously been somewhat estranged from her little sister. But on May 3, she flew to Kentwood to attend Jamie Lynn’s baby shower.

Because her visitations with her own children are still limited, Britney will miss visits with her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. Spears is expected to return to Los Angeles on Monday.

Spears’ next court date for her August 2007 hit-and-run accident, which occurred in front of the paparazzi’s every-ready cameras, is now scheduled for Aug. 11. Due to the fact that Spears is under the care of a conservatorship, Spears’ attorney Michael Flanagan, who has been working to try to get the charges dismissed entirely or reduced to an infraction, asked that the case be continued.
