Keira Knightley is back on the big screen as the leading lady in The Duchess, a costume drama about love and scandal set in the 18th century.

At The Duchess world premiere in London, The young star of ‘The Duchess’ scores maximum fashion points for choosing a dress by the hottest young couturier in Paris right now, for the film’s premiere in Leicester Square, on Wednesday night.

Keira Knightley’s mini-ballgown in cobalt-blue taffeta, with a flirty frill of polka-dotted tulle at cleavage and hem, was designed by Alexis Mabille, whose show opened the Paris haute couture season just over two months ago and was one of the hottest tickets on the schedule.

I hate when people take themselves so seriously that they can’t even take a joke. Obviously I love to have fun and laugh and give a lot of crap, but I also know how to take a lot of crap as well. You learn to do that when the basement door locks from the outside and the light switch is outside the door. God help me when the parents get too much to drink in them.Anyway, James Corden apologized yesterday after being snubbed by Keira Knightley for a joke he said about her five months ago. He was introducing a videotape of Keira accepting an award for Best Actress. Apparently this is the kind of award show where you let the winners know in advance they have won so they bother to show up. Anyway, in his intro, he said they had just finished three days of “sensual lovemaking” and “solid shagging.”

Apparently Keira was pissed and repeatedly ignored him at a party last week. To me this is just someone who thinks she is either obviously too important to be joked about, or is the most sensitive creature on the planet, or just was at the party and had absolutely no idea who James Corden was so blew him off. Yeah, I’m going with the self-important narcissistic a-hole as well. Not one of my original options I know, so if you are scoring at home, I will take all answers you may have given with the exception of ignorance of James Corden.

Of course I guess he could have got his hair cut since the presentation. I mean it has been five months. That is one hell of a long time for a grudge. I would hate to see how her boyfriend gets treated when he leaves the seat up. He probably is afraid to sleep for weeks on end.

Keira Knightley has no problem appearing in the buff for her latest film. In fact, she says it’s becoming a habit.

“I always bare my breasts,” she said at the press conference to promote The Edge of Love Wednesday at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. “It’s not like it’s only in this film!”

The British actress, 23, is best known for the Pirates of the Caribbean films; last year she went au naturale in the period drama Atonement.

Referring to a scene in the wartime romance The Edge of Love with her onscreen husband Cillian Murphy, Knightley said: “It was very simple. It was a sex scene and I never like them when they’ve got bras on.”

So when the director asked her to remove her bra, “I said, ‘All right then.’”

But when it came to her singing scenes, the British actress needed much more persuasion. On hearing she had to sing live in front of the cast and 100 extras, she said, “I thought I was going to die. My knees actually started buckling.”

The film was written by Sharman Macdonald, Knightley’s mother, who says her actress daughter was the inspiration for writing the period romance that also stars Sienna Miller, 26, and Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters.)

“I wasn’t particularly pleased that Shar put singing into the script – in the first couple of takes I sounded like a apubescent boy,” says Knightley, who calls her mom Shar and instead of mother.

At the film’s premiere in Scotland on Wednesday, Knightley (in a cream Chanel jumpsuit) and Miller (in a Jasmine de Milo dress) walked the red carpet holding hands.

The two fashionable costars “are incredibly warm in the film and that’s the way they are in life,” says mom Macdonald. “They knew each other slightly before and then they just completely bonded on the film. I hope they will be friends for life!”

One of the only good things to come out of this year’s The Other Boleyn Girl was a tough lesson in public relations for young actresses. As leading ladies Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson took their quasi-lesbian chic press tour from S&M magazine covers to poufy-lipped faux-kisses on red carpets, the period piece will sadly be remembered only for those posters shoving Scarlett’s mushy cleavage in America’s collective face. But the British version of Nat/ScarJo is still trying ever so hard to emulate the strategy, getting cheeky at film festivals, hugging one another just this shy of arousingly, and yes, even copying the original pair’s near-miss-kiss in public. Some visual examples, and why this admittedly less voluptuous and curvy duo may succeed where the corset-strapped Boleyns failed, after the jump.

Just like the buzz leading up to the modestly successful Boleyn, Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller’s Edge Of Love has received mixed reviews based on advance screenings. While Var says “it’s all over the map, veering between artsy stylization and hum-drum, sometimes almost twee melodrama,” THR thought the sweeping drama “succeeds as a deeply involving study of men and women caught up in a whirlwind beyond their control.” Which leads us to defend our predictions that, just because Keira and Sienna lack Scarlett’s curves and Natalie’s perfect teeth, their Lohan/Ronson-esque behavior in public leading up to the film’s release date will coincide perfectly with this particular flick’s dose of understated sexiness. Rather than two tense women stuck in painful satin ensembles lingering around dim castles and fighting over some rich guy (Boleyn), Edge will feature Keira and Sienna battling it out over romantic Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, all the while wearing thin summer dresses and falling all over each other in Britain’s windswept countryside fields. Who needs cleavage when, between the two of them, we’ll see stems for days?

Keira Knightley would never leave the house without her underwear.
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actress admits being a celebrity isn’t easy, but insists fame is not an excuse to be caught going ‘commando’ in public.

Keira told Empire magazine: “The whole celebrity thing is not magic. They are just real people proving they are sluttier than everybody else because they don’t wear any knickers.”

The 22-year-old actress continued her thinly veil swipe at young female celebrities like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan - who have both been photographed without underwear and have checked into rehab several times this year - by slamming stars who are photographed drunkenly staggering out of nightclubs.

Keira said: “I’m not going to get blind drunk and then stumble out of a club and fall over and vomit in front of people. I’m not saying I don’t do that in private, but I try not to.”

Meanwhile, Keira appeared at the Venice Film Festival yesterday (29.08.07) looking stunning in an ivory and peach strapless gown.

She is hoping her new movie ‘Atonement’ - which premiered at the festival - will be as successful as the Oscar-winning British film ‘The Queen’
