Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron has seen The Hills and she doesn’t understand why it’s so popular.

“I realized that this f—ing show is huge,” Theron told MTV News Monday while promoting Battle in Seattle. “Now I’m going to ask you a question: Why?

“Why is it so big?” she asked. “It’s about nothing! This is a free country. Freedom of speech! You can tell me right now to my face that Reindeer Games was a piece of sh–. That’s totally fine.

“But The Hills is about nothing,” she continued. “I think the girls are beautiful and when they cry their mascara runs and that’s real, but I don’t get it! [Pause.] I am a nana. I’ll just take it. I am a nana. Maybe I need to watch the shows some more.”

Theron, 33, said she watched a couple of episodes in different languages because she was on a world tour.

In March, Theron was bewildered when asked by MTV about The Hills.

“I do not know what The Hills are,” she responded at the time. “Oh, now you’re going to make me look like the old fart. God, you’re a mother—-er! Unbelievable! You’re supposed to make me look like the cool movie star! Come on! Get with it! What is The Hills?”

Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend have been happily together for years, but the actress, 33, admits before she found Stuart, 35, weren’t always easy.

She tells August’s UK Elle, “He got through to me on a level that no one else did. Stuart made me softer. He was one of the few guys who wasn’t afraid o me. What he saw was not toughness but vulnerability.”

As for the reason she and her partner of seven years have yet to tie the knot, she says, “I want to know that I wake up every morning with him because I want to, not because a piece of paper says so.”

The 5′10″ actress noticed that she towered over all of her escorts into the studio. Theron said, “I know that I’m taller than the average girl, but those guys…the guys walking in me made me feel like I was Shaq or something.” A member of Theron’s entourage thought maybe it was her shoes that made her look so tall, but Theron thought it was a sensible heel size. Smith felt that it was one of his more difficult challenges he had faced in his professional career. Smith said, “Professionalism seems to be lacking in today’s world and I don’t want to come off as being unprofessional by checking out my co-star’s breasts.” Smith added that if he did do it, it could have spread like wildfire all over the internet. Theron appreciated Smith’s decision to not look down her, but wished that Smith would’ve suggested that another Hancock co-star use the same gentlemanly approach with her. Theron said, “I wish would’ve had a heart to heart with Jason Bateman beforehand. I was about to charge the guy admission. Then again, he was on Arrested Development, so I guess he gets a pass.”

Charlize Theron was born in South Africa, but Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron is happy to finally be a U.S. citizen.

“You’re stuck with me now,” she told David Letterman on CBS’ “The Late Show” Wednesday.

Theron, who was sworn in with more than 5,000 other new citizens last May, said the process wasn’t easy.

“Well, I’ve always wanted to be (a citizen) they just didn’t want to take me. It’s quite a process you have to work hard, you know, study up,” she said. “Then finally I was approved and you have to go in and do an interview. You have to know your stuff.”

Oscar winner CHARLIZE THERON is auctioning off the first red carpet gown she was given by a designer - to raise money for charity. Narciso Rodriguez made the one-of-a-kind silk dress especially for the actress when she made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival in France in 2000. The gown is currently up for auction on website eBay.com. The proceeds from the sale of the dress will be donated to Oprah Winfrey’s Angel Network charity.
