Winona Ryder bounced back and looked beautiful at the Marie Claire Prix de la Moda 2008 Awards in Madrid, Spain, sporting a muted pink one-shoulder dress and her trademark cute and cropped hairdo.

And though she may have appeared poised as she accepted an award at the ceremony, the day before, Miss Ryder was rushed to the hospital after collapsing on a plane in London.

Winona Ryder may have fallen sick on her flight to London yesterday, but at least she has learned one valuable lesson. No, it isn’t that taking too many Xanax does not make you a pleasant flying companion. No, what she learned is that when you take too many Xanax on a flight you get to land first, and get off the plane first. On those international flights arriving in London in the morning, and your name isn’t Naomi Campbell it’s always fun to find a new way to move to the front of the line.

I kid because she is ok. I myself don’t do Xanax but I can understand someone who is scared of flying doing it. I’m also immensely proud of Winona because this time, unlike when she was arrested in 2001, I think she had a valid prescription and not some form she printed off the internet and then filled at her pharmacy. I’m guessing it was valid or else we would have been talking about her arrest and not her release from the hospital. Winona apparently passed out twice while en route to London. She woke up, saw what they were passing off as a meal, and then took another Xanax and passed out again.

I’m glad she’s doing ok.

Hollywood star Winona Ryder was rushed to a London hospital today after falling ill on a plane.

The Oscar-nominated actress, 37, was flying from Los Angeles to Heathrow when she suddenly felt sick.

The British Airways flight she was travelling on was given special priority to land quickly and she was treated by medics as the airport before being taken away in an ambulance.

The Beetlejuice star was admitted to Hillingdon Hospital in Uxbridge, west London, before being discharged an hour later.

The actress’ publicist Mara Buxbaum said: ‘She did fall ill on a plane and as a precautionary measure they took her to a hospital.

‘She has already been released from hospital. She was there for an hour. She’s in good health. There’s no drama.’

A spokesman for British Airways said: ‘The captain of BA282, which was travelling from LA to Heathrow, requested a priority landing as a female passenger required medical attention.

‘The passenger was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The plane touched down shortly before noon UK time.’

The spokesman added BA staff had cared for the actress as much as their skills allowed during the flight and one of the passenger service staff accompanied her to hospital.

Ryder will next be seen on screen playing Mr Spock’s human mother Amanda Grayson in the eagerly anticipated Star Trek movie next year.

Winona Laura Horowitz (born October 29, 1971), better known under her professional name Winona Ryder, is a two-time Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-winning American actress.

During their relationship, Depp had a tattoo placed on his arm reading “Winona Forever”, which he had altered to “Wino Forever” after their separation. Ryder later had serious relationships with Soul Asylum’s Dave Pirner, the drummer and singer Dave Grohl and actor Matt Damon. Ryder also told W Magazine in a June 2002 issue that she is close friends with comedian and actor Jimmy Fallon. She was also close friends with actress Gwyneth Paltrow, until they reportedly “grew apart” in the late 1990s. She is currently dating Rilo Kiley guitarist Blake Sennett.

Popular actress Winona Ryder once again was given the third degree as she shopped at a Manhattan store. While shopping, Ryder was accompanied by the store’s two rather beefy security guards. Ryder paused for a moment, stared at the guards, then looked at the girl behind the register and said, “Is this really necessary? I mean, it’s been nearly seven years since I stole something. I’m from Hollywood and I get tons of free stuff all the time. So, I have no need to steal anything unless we’re in a scene together. I’m guilty of that crime. Netflix me being guilty in such films as Heathers and Edward Scissorhands.”

The National Enquirer reports Ryder was caught shoplifting in a Hollywood CVS this week when an alarm went off and a security guard reportedly found some makeup on her she didn’t have a receipt for. The tabloid claims a store employee said, “We took the unpaid items back, and she left the store.” The Post couldn’t confirm the story with the LAPD, the LA County Sher iff’s Department or CVS. In 2002, Ryder was convicted of boosting nearly $7,000 worth of gear from a Beverly Hills Saks Fifth Avenue and had to serve 480 hours of community service. Winona’s publicist, Mara Buxbaum, did not return calls.

Did Winona Ryder not learn her lesson after getting busted for shoplifting, oh so long ago? Janet Charlton seems to think so.

Never a dull moment in the CVS Pharmacy in Hollywood. A source told us that recently the alarm bells went off at the door as a customer was walking out with a bag full of purchases. Security stopped the shopper, who turned out to be none other than Winona Ryder! She showed the guard her receipt and he proceeded to check her bag. There were a couple of makeup items that were not paid for. Wide-eyed Winona said “I don’t know how that happened” and she quickly paid for the makeup before braving the exit once again.

Winona Ryder will play Young Spock’s vulcan mother in the upcoming Star Trek movie for J..J Abrams. The remake is set for a Christmas 2008 release.

Zachary Quinto plays old Spock. The cast also includes Leonard Nimoy, Eric Bana, Chris Pine, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Bruce Greenwood.

Wino as a vulcan. Perfect casting. No make-up or heavy prosthetics required. J.J. is so budget conscious. She could play old Spock’s mother as well. She’s looking beat as hell.

Ugh, I am so over Star Trek. They should’ve remade “Ice Pirates” instead.
