While three inches may be enough for most women, over in Los Angeles the rule seems the higher the better, and actress Anne Hathaway is no exception.

Despite being a respectable 5ft8in in bare feet the Devil Wears Prada star added another five inches in sky high stilettos at an awards ceremony last night.

Anne arrived for the ELLE Magazine’s 15th Annual Women in Hollywood tribute at the Four Seasons Hotel in the towering stilettos, with sharp silver heels.

Luckily for the 25-year-old she didn’t have to walk far, arriving at the glittering event by car. She teemed the maroon shoes with a blue wrap dress and tied a multi coloured scarf around her waist.

Britney Spears should be good at go-karting considering all the speeding offences she racked up over the years.

The singer was being filmed racing around a Californian indoor track over the weekend as part of her behind-the-scenes DVD soon to be released.

Wearing a black balaclava and orange helmet over her long blonde locks, Britney didn’t hold back as she recorded high speeds on the 1000ft-long Dromo 1 track.

Beyonce was in Miami after being inducted into the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Hall of Fame as a reward for her generous work towards helping others.

She was guest of honour at a gala to raise money for the foundation on Saturday night.

Joe Son, who played the character Random Task in the first “Austin Powers” movie, has been charged by California authorities in connection with an unsolved 1990 Christmas Eve gang rape.

Son pleaded guilty in May to felony vandalism, which required him to give a DNA sample — which eventually connected him to the rape, police say.

TMZ.com exclusively first reported the information Thursday evening.

Son, 37, was charged Oct. 1 with five felony counts of forcible rape, two felony counts of forcible sodomy, two felony counts of sodomy in concert by force, seven felony counts of forcible oral copulations, one felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object by force according to an Orange County District Attorney’s Office release about an arrest in the case.

Lindsay Lohan is reported to have turned to LA police after becoming the victim of vile abuse.

The actress, who is currently the close companion of DJ Samantha Ronson, 31, is said to have received ‘Biblical’ threats at 3 different Californian addresses.

Now she has been assigned a police guard to protect her, claims the Daily Star.

Meanwhile, lawyers for Lindsay, 22, have filed a motion to prevent the paparazzi from filming her when she gives evidence in an upcoming court case involving her close friend, reports Access Hollywood.

Lindsay also doesn’t want transcripts or other accounts to be made public because she fears they would be ‘illegally exploited by the media’.

Samantha is embroiled in a legal battle with her former lawyers who she claims failed to ‘adequately represent her’ when she sued Perez Hilton and other internet bloggers for defaming her character.

Eileen Herlie, a stage and TV actress who appeared on “All My Children” for more than three decades as the motherly Myrtle Fargate, has died at 90. Herlie died Wednesday of pneumonia, said Julie Hanan Carruthers, the ABC soap opera’s executive producer.

The actress joined the long-running show in 1976 to play Myrtle, who became the surrogate mother to many of the soap’s major characters, including Erica Kane, portrayed by Susan Lucci.

“I’m sure Eileen is lighting up the sky’s in heaven with her flaming red hair and lovely Scottish accent,” Lucci said. “The earth’s loss is heaven’s gain!”

Herlie’s last appearance on the program was in June.

Before joining “All My Children,” Herlie was a regular on Broadway. She made her debut in Thornton Wilder’s “The Matchmaker” in 1955, playing milliner Irene Molloy in the comedy, which starred Ruth Gordon as Dolly Gallagher Levi.

Musical theater buffs knew Herlie from her appearances in two shows: “Take Me Along” (1959), an adaptation of Eugene O’Neill’s “Ah, Wilderness!,” in which she played Jackie Gleason’s love interest, and “All American” (1962), in which Herlie co-starred with Ray Bolger. In “All American,” she and Bolger sang the musical’s best-known song, “Once Upon a Time,” a Charles Strouse-Lee Adams tune later popularized by Tony Bennett.

Herlie was nominated for a Tony for her performance in “Take Me Along.”

Among Herlie’s other Broadway appearances were the Richard Burton production of “Hamlet” (1964), in which she played Queen Gertrude; two plays written by Peter Ustinov, “Photo Finish” (1963) and “Halfway Up the Tree” (1967); and “Crown Matrimonial” (1973), a drama about the events leading up to the abdication of King Edward VIII, in which she played Queen Mary and George Grizzard the love-stricken monarch.

Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, Herlie worked for several years in the Scottish National Theater and in the English theater with Tyrone Guthrie. Among the hit London plays she appeared in: Jean Cocteau’s “The Eagle Has Two Heads.”

Her movie credits include two filmings of “Hamlet,” the Burton version and the 1948 Laurence Olivier production, in which she also played Gertrude. Her other movies include “Freud” (1962) with Montgomery Clift and Sidney Lumet’s “The Sea Gull” (1968) with Simone Signoret, James Mason and Vanessa Redgrave.

Herlie is survived by a brother, nieces and nephews.

A woman accused of stalking John Cusack accepted a plea deal Friday that will allow her to avoid state prison. Emily Leatherman pleaded no contest to a felony count of stalking Cusack. A judge immediately sentenced her to five years’ probation and mandatory psychiatric counseling.

The judge ordered Leatherman to stay away from the 42-year-old actor, his home and business for the next 10 years.

Leatherman, 33, was arrested outside Cusack’s home in March.

In a rambling statement Friday morning, Leatherman claimed she was the victim of sex crimes and thought Cusack could help her.

Cusack wasn’t present in court, but a prosecutor read a statement from him that stated he had never met Leatherman but hoped she received proper psychiatric help.

Cusack’s screen credits include “Being John Malkovich,” “High Fidelity” and “Grace Is Gone.”

A publicist for Meat Loaf says the 57-year-old rocker was hospitalized in London for three days following an awards ceremony earlier this week.

Publicist Kirt Webster says Meat Loaf was admitted to a private hospital in central London on Monday, immediately after winning Q Magazine’s “Classic Song” award for his rock epic “Bat Out of Hell.”

Webster said in an e-mail Friday that Meat Loaf stayed at The London Clinic for three days for “testing and evaluation.” The reason for the hospitalization wasn’t disclosed.

Webster says Meat Loaf has been cleared to travel back to the U.S. He’s set to perform in Clearwater, Florida, on October 17 and Pompano Beach, Florida, on October 18.
