A jury convicted O. J. Simpson of armed robbery, kidnapping and all 10 other counts stemming from a confrontation last year in a Las Vegas hotel room.

The verdict, which was read late Friday after 13 hours of deliberations, came 13 years to the day after Mr. Simpson was acquitted in the highly publicized murders of his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald L. Goldman.

Mr. Simpson gave a heavy sigh as the verdict was announced but showed little emotion as officers led him handcuffed from the courtroom. Mr. Simpson’s sister, Carmelita Durio, broke into sobs as he was led away and later fainted.

Mr. Simpson’s lawyer said the conviction would be appealed. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 5, and Mr. Simpson, 61, and his co-defendant, Clarence Stewart, 54, could spend the rest of their lives in prison. Kidnapping is punishable by five years to life, and the armed robbery conviction requires a mandatory sentence of at least two years and up to 30 years. The presence of a weapon at the scene adds years to the minimum sentences for 9 of the 12 charges, which include conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary, assault and coercion.

“He’s extremely upset, extremely emotional,” Yale Galanter, Mr. Simpson’s lawyer, told reporters after the verdict. “We knew this was going to be very difficult, we knew the jury was going to be very difficult, we knew the jurisdiction would be very difficult.”

Defense lawyers said they worried from the start about what one described as the “spillover effect” from Mr. Simpson’s controversial acquittal in 1995.

“I don’t like to use the word payback,” Mr. Galanter said. “I can tell you from the beginning my biggest concern was whether or not the jury would be able to separate their very strong feelings about Mr. Simpson and judge him fairly and honestly.”

Mr. Simpson was facing charges after an incident on Sept. 13, 2007, in a room at the Palace Station Hotel-Casino in which he and five other men departed with hundreds of items of sports memorabilia.

The items were in the possession of two memorabilia dealers, Bruce L. Fromong and Alfred Beardsley, who were led to believe that a prospective buyer was coming to inspect the goods.

Instead, Mr. Simpson and his group burst into the room and, according to several witnesses, at least one in the group was brandishing a gun.

The jury of nine women and three men considered weeks of testimony as well as hours of surreptitious audio recordings of the planning and execution of the event by Thomas Riccio, a memorabilia auctioneer who arranged the confrontation. Mr. Simpson, who could be heard on the recordings, did not testify.

Mr. Simpson has said he was seeking to retrieve only personal keepsakes like ceremonial footballs from his Hall of Fame N.F.L. career and photographs of his family that years ago were taken from his home.

Among the 24 prosecution witnesses were four of the men who prosecutors said accompanied Mr. Simpson and Mr. Stewart into the hotel room. The four accepted plea bargains from prosecutors in exchange for their testimony, and two of them, Walter Alexander and Michael McClinton, testified that they had carried guns during the confrontation. Mr. McClinton said he was armed at Mr. Simpson’s request.

The proceedings failed to capture the intense public interest that turned Mr. Simpson’s 1995 trial into the so-called trial of the century. That spectacle became a racial touchstone and turned a number of legal analysts into television stars.

While Mr. Simpson’s earlier acquittal was never discussed during the trial, it hung over the proceedings. Jurors were quizzed extensively before their selection about their views of the divisive 1995 trial, and references were made in some of the audio recordings to the fact that Mr. Simpson owes the estate of Ms. Simpson and Mr. Goldman $33.5 million because in 1997 he was held liable in a civil lawsuit for the deaths.

Mr. Galanter attacked that issue in his closing, pointing out that Mr. Riccio’s recorder picked up police officers at the crime scene seeming to exult in their chance to prosecute Mr. Simpson. He also noted that Mr. Riccio alone testified that he had made more than $200,000 in fees from the news media in exchange for interviews and rights to his recordings.

“This case has never been about a search for the true facts,” Mr. Galanter said. “This case has taken on a life of its own because Mr. Simpson’s involved. You know that, I know that, every cooperator, every person with a gun, every person who signed a book deal, every person who got paid money, the police, the district attorney’s office, was only interested in one thing: Mr. Simpson.”

Hills star Lauren Conrad is denying reports that she had a fling with Justin Bobby, the on/off boyfriend of her former roommate Audrina Patridge.

“I’m being accused of being a bad friend, a slut and a liar all at once. It would actually be funny to me if people weren’t taking it seriously,” Conrad told Usmagazine.com on Friday.

She continued: “The worst thing is knowing that a friend, that I’ve known for years and even shared a home with, thinks that I’m capable of that kind of betrayal. I would never hurt a friend like that!”

PerezHilton.com reported that Patridge learned of the alleged hookup about a week ago, from a friend of Bobby’s.

When confronted, Justin admitted to Audrina that he and L.C. hooked up,”a source told PerezHilton.com

Conrad’s take on the situation? She implied it had something to do with Spencer Pratt.

“Once again someone has mysteriously called Perez Hilton and had him post another insane and completely false rumor about me,” she blogged on her MySpace page on Friday. “Hmmmmmm… I wonder who it could be? I’m baffled… What kind of person would enjoy watching blogs and the press tear me apart? Who is someone that I do not get along with, that possibly has too much time on his hands (between pathetically staged paparazzi shots).”

Conrad also took a shot at Bobby.

“Do they think I was swept away by his wonderful manners and his commitment to my friend?” Conrad wrote. “I love it when guys burp in my face. So hot!”

She added: “I have never even been in the same place as Justin when Audrina wasn’t around. I have been there for Audrina for years of ups and downs with this guy. Now she is accusing me of hooking up with him?”

Conrad concluded her post with a personal message to Patridge.

“You know I didn’t do this and I have never given you a reason not to trust me,” Conrad wrote. “Whoever is telling you these things does not have your best interest at heart. You asked me if I did this and I told you I didn’t.”

Rachael Ray is shooting down reports that she had a throat cancer scare and is about to be silenced for two months by surgery.

The bubbly Emmy winning talk show host is having surgery – but it’s not as serious as reports suggest, according to her rep.

“Rachael is the picture of health. She is having very minor surgery to remove a benign cyst on her vocal cord,” says Charlie Dougiello, a spokesman for Ray. “It’s a common in-and-out procedure that she will have in early December and it will not adversely effect any of her daytime show or Food Network tapings.”

The National Enquirer had reported that Ray, 40, was scared she had throat cancer, which required surgery that would prevent her from speaking for about two months and would disrput her work schedule.

Although, she will have to rest her voice for a week or so after the procedure, the ailment hasn’t slowed down the busy TV star.

“She’s totally fine. It’s just something she needs to take care of. She hasn’t been feeling ill,” says a source.

In 2006, Ray said that she’s had issues with her voice for ages. “I lose my voice a lot,” she said at the time. “I had a lot of croup as a kid so I don’t have the strongest vocal cords to begin with. I went to a voice doctor [who] taught me exercises for my throat and to cut back a little on the caffeine.”

Ray is currently in Italy celebrating her third wedding anniversary with husband John Cusimano, family and friends.

International top model Natasja Vermeer has strutted on runways in New York, Paris, and Milan and graced the cover of magazines around the world. Now she’s stripping down and posing nude to help animals for PETA’s infamous naked anti-fur ad series.

Alongside the tagline “Earn your wings. Lose the fur,” Natasja proves that beauty and compassion are the true fashion.

Natasja knows that the fur industry tortures minks, chinchillas, rabbits, dogs, and cats for their skins, sometimes even skinning them alive. She recently sat down with PETA to tell us why she wanted to join the growing list of fashion-forward celebrities in speaking up for animals and speaking out against fur.

On the cover of this week’s Page Six Magazine, actress Molly Shannon has bounced from childhood tragedy to Saturday Night Live fame, to motherhood to a new TV show. But no matter what, she’s got her killer sense of humor (and a great set of gams) to carry her through.

She worked hard to attain success: starting out at NYU in 1983 as a serious actress, moving to L.A. after graduating and scraping by as a waitress and a fragrance lady. In 1995, SNL producer Marci Klein saw Molly’s show and asked her to fly to New York to audition – and the rest is history.

Molly opens up about her artist husband, Fritz Chesnut and children – 5-year-old daughter, Stella and son, Nolan, 3½—whom she recently uprooted from downtown New York to move to L.A., where her new show, “Kath & Kim,” films. “All the years I was on SNL, I didn’t think about kids. I was focused on work. But toward the end, I was looking for a serious boyfriend who could turn into a husband that I could have children with. I was very clear about what I wanted.”

She also took a humorous approach to giving birth: “I called my doctor and said, ‘I think labor is starting,’ and she said I should go about my day. So I went to Starbucks. I went to a street fair. I got a super-straight blow-dry so I could look nice while pushing,” she laughs.

Molly lost her mother in a car accident when she was just four years old. “It pulls the rug from under you, but it also gives you compassion for other people and a deep understanding of loss, suffering and abandonment.”

Columbia Records released a statement yesterday from Beyonce on her upcoming album:

Beyonce Addresses Her Fans on Her Upcoming Release, Due in Stores November 18th

“I wanted to address my fans about my upcoming album.

I have worked on this album for close to one year. I have taken the time so I can create my sound. Something that says who I am at this stage in my life. I have poured my heart and soul into it. It is my baby. It is the most time I have spent on any project since my first records as a member of Destiny’s Child when I was 15 years old. I have recorded over 70 songs and have created a sound that reveals all of me. I am in a different place right now and I wanted people to see the many sides of me. The music is upbeat for the dance, fun side and it is reflective, passionate and serious for the personal side. I have taken risks here. I am not afraid and my music will explain it all. There is no label or tag on my sound. It’s me and I am so excited to share it with the world on November 18.”

Love,

Beyoncé
