Nick Lachey is returning to his roots.

The former Newlyweds star is executive producing a pilot for an MTV reality show, which the network describes as a version of the ’80s movie and TV show Fame, according to The Hollwood Reporter.

The yet-to-be-named program focuses on students at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, Lachey’s alma mater. (Sarah Jessica Parker and Carmen Electra are also famous former students.)

“The stories and relationships are all set to music that’s organic to what’s going on in the school and also performed by the kids,” Tony DiSanto, executive VP of series development and programming at the network, tells the Reporter. “This is a genre-busting, creative experiment that I’m really excited about.”

As an example DiSanto said a scene could feature kids breaking into dance in the cafeteria, which sounds a lot like a real-life High School Musical, or the soundtrack could come from a scene in which a student is practicing his or her instrument.

Lachey, who proposed the project, is executive producing it with Marc Platt and Russell Heldt.

A press representative for pop singer Ashlee Simpson is denying claims the star was drunk during a radio interview on Tuesday, saying she was “simply just tired.” The 23-year-old appeared on Washington D.C.’s Hot 99.5 Kane in the Morning show, but attracted attention because she appeared to have trouble speaking and slurred her words while on the air. But her spokesperson is adamant Simpson’s behavior was due to her busy promotional schedule.
A representative for the star says, “Ashlee was absolutely not intoxicated this morning on Hot 99.5. “She has been working extremely hard traveling across the country to promote her upcoming new album by performing at night and waking up very early the next day to do radio interviews in the morning — like any of us would be — she was simply just tired.”

Tony Romo hears rumors about how he and Jessica Simpson are getting engaged, and is simply surprised.

During the off-season, will you visit Jessica in Nashville, where she’s recording a country album?
”Yeah. She’s working hard. She’s doing a great job, and I’m really excited about the way it sounds. It sounds real good. I’m excited.”

Ashlee and Pete celebrated the Bittersweet World album release on Tuesday night at Marquee in NYC. What I want to know is, who is waiting for the release of this album? Honestly I could go without seeing either of these people again and not miss them. I think Ashlee would be better off with a different boyfriend, it is mostly Pete that makes this pair so annoying. What the hell does Ashlee see in this guy? I was under the impression that he was gay but now he is talking babies? I wouldn’t be surprised if this paid did pop out an evil little runt. Jessica Simpson’s dream about serving her country has come true. She will be performing with rock act ‘Disturbed’ and comedian Carlos Mencia in a concert for US troops in Kuwait next month. She is really excited about this. 

This event has been Scheduled for March 10, for those of you who want to view it,the event will be broadcasted live on the social networking site MySpace.com.

The movie was a No. 1 hit there, grossing $253,008 last weekend, Box Office Mojo reports.

The movie flopped in the U.S. in December, showing in just eight Texas theaters and making only $1,771 in its opening weekend.

After dinner with pals – including hair stylist Ken Paves – at Hollywood hotspot Katsuya last night, the pop singer hardly had enough money to pay the valet.

While digging around her oversized Louis Vuitton handbag for a few minutes, Simpson cheered every time she pulled out a dollar – until finally producing a crumpled pile of cash.

“Here!” she yelled, as Paves handed over the bills. “Here’s a wad of cash,” he added.

All the while, Simpson kept her trademark oversized grin.
