R & B singer Fantasia Barrino has been threatened with a lawsuit from the woman who has accused the star of breaking up her marriage.

The former American Idol winner was hospitalized for a drug overdose on Monday after she became entangled in divorce proceedings between North Carolina couple Antwuan Cook and his estranged wife Paula.

Barrino was released from Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville in North Carolina on Wednesday and her manager, Brian Dickens, assured fans she was already on the path to recovery.

But her personal woes could soon become legal ones – Paula’s attorneys have warned Barrino’s legal rep she could be hauled into court under a state law which allows a party to sue a “home wrecker” for alienation of affection and criminal conversation, reports People.com.

The singer’s lawyer, Gena Morris, says, “(Paula Cook) has threatened via her lawyers to me to sue Fantasia.

“(The law is) a comical irony because they arrive out of laws when women were property of men.”

However, Morris has called into question the legitimacy of Paula’s allegation – because the former couple has listed differing split dates.

In her court filing, Paula claims she separated from her husband on June 16, 2010, while Cook insists their marriage broke down last summer, before he met Barrino.

Morris adds, “If there is a relationship with a married person after they are separated, there is no cause of action for alienation.”

Barrino has admitted to dating Cook “off and on for 11 months”, under the assumption he was separated from his spouse.

She’s already beaten breast cancer, so motherhood should be a snap for Christina Applegate.

The 38-year-old actress is expecting her first child with her fiance, Dutch musician Martyn Lenoble.

Applegate’s publicist, Ame Van Iden, confirmed a report that first appeared Wednesday on People.com. The baby’s due date hasn’t been announced.

The former star of TV’s “Samantha Who?” and “Married … With Children” had a double mastectomy in July 2008 and reconstructive surgery months later. She is now cancer-free.

Miss Fabulosity Kimora Lee Simmons and her ex, Russell, have finally signed a contract to sell their sprawling 35,000-square-foot mansion in Saddle River, NJ, for close to its last asking price of $13.9 million.

The unknown buyer is paying far less than the $23.8 million price tag of two years ago. The house, on four acres, includes indoor and outdoor pools. Listing broker Stephanie Rosken, of Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, had no comment.

Ben Affleck is so paranoid about intruders he built a panic room in his former house, according to the property’s new owner, director Kevin Smith.

The filmmaker bought the Good Will Hunting actor’s Hollywood home in 2003 and was surprised when he first discovered the secret chamber.

Affleck installed a panic room in the house hidden behind a bookcase – featuring a video monitor, phone and a safe.

But Smith was less than impressed with the feature’s dimensions.

He reveals, “He’s showing us around and says, ‘I can’t wait to show you this, when I was building this, I knew you’d love it… He brings me into this office off the master bedroom, which is now my master bedroom. And in this office is a beautiful bookcase and he says, ‘Watch this.’

“He reaches over and under the bookshelf there is a hidden button ‘click’ and the bookshelf pushes back, Batman style. At that point I fully expected Ben to say, ‘Let’s go fight crime in Los Angeles!’ But it wasn’t – he says, ‘Dude I built a panic room!’ I couldn’t wait to go into it, I was expecting The Bat Cave… It was tiny. It might have been a small bathroom back in the day.

“The panic room had a safe in it, a video monitor and a phone… in case someone came you could hide in there. From the outside, it was very Hollywood. It was astounding. The moment you got inside…it’s not what you’re hoping for from Ben Affleck’s secret room. There is not a staircase that leads you down to a ski boat that takes you onto the bay.

“We don’t even use it any more – it’s filled with our kids’ old Christmas gifts. Plus, no one’s panicked in this house. No one’s trying to come in here and steal me. I’m not Ben Affleck.”

Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a claim that Mel Gibson’s ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva engaged in attempted extortion against the actor-director, an official said Wednesday.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore declined to provide further details about the claim by lawyers for Gibson or say when the inquiry might conclude.

“Detectives will follow the investigation wherever it leads,” Whitmore said.

Grigorieva’s spokesman Stephen Jaffe denied any wrongdoing on the part of his client, a Russian singer.

“To specifically address the allegations, my client, Ms. Grigorieva, has repeatedly stated that there is no credible evidence whatsoever of extortion by her, and she stands steadfastly by that statement,” Jaffe said.

Detectives interviewed Grigorieva, 40, earlier this month after she claimed Gibson abused her during an incident in January.

Detectives received CDs of audio recordings that will be evaluated for a potential case against Gibson.

Authorities also attended a hearing last week in the former couple’s custody dispute over their 8-month-old daughter. Records in that case are sealed.

Whitmore offered no timetable on when the case might be presented to the district attorney’s office, which will decide whether to pursue charges against either Gibson or Grigorieva.

Police say rapper Foxy Brown has been arrested in New York City for allegedly violating an order of protection.

A police spokesman said he had no details on the arrest Wednesday in Brooklyn, which is not Brown’s first brush with the law.

Brown pleaded guilty in 2008 to menacing a neighbor with her cell phone. The rapper and neighbor Arlene Raymond got into a fight in July 2007 over Brown blasting her car stereo outside their building.

The 30-year-old entertainer also spent seven months in jail for a Manhattan case involving a fight with manicurists in a nail salon.

Brown’s real name is Inga Marchand.

A lawyer for Brown did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

As Lindsay Lohan begins her 90-day sentence at Century Regional Detention Facility, she will most likely come across a familiar face.

The 24-year-old actress will be housed in a 12-by-8 cell next to E! reality star Alexis Neiers, who is currently serving a 180-day sentence for felony residential burglary of Orlando Bloom’s home, according to People.com.

Neiers, 19, was reportedly involved with Hollywood’s so-called “Bling Ring,” a mostly teenage group of celebrity-obsessed wannabes who allegedly stole from celebs Paris Hilton, Audrina Patridge, Rachel Bilson and jailbird Lohan.

A detective who testified at Neiers’ preliminary hearing said investigators found a Chanel necklace stolen from Lohan inside Neiers’ family home.

It remains unknown as to whether or not the two women will be in the same module at the facility, which is also the former home of Hilton, Nicole Richie, Michelle Rodriguez and Khloe Kardashian.

“I am not commenting on who would or would not be in the same module as any inmate in the Century Regional Detention Facility or for that matter anywhere in the L.A. County jail system,” Steve Whitmore, a sheriff’s spokesman, told the Los Angeles Times.

Neiers’ mother, Andrea Arlington, has been posting updates on Twitter about her daughter, who became ill while behind bars in late June.

“I am very concerned about Alexis’ life. Her condition is getting worse and not better based on the experiences she’s had so far,” Arlington wrote. “She was fed antibiotics and had an allergic reaction. She threw up for 2 days, fever, cold sweats, and nobody gave a s–t.

In another post earlier this month, Arlington noted that her daughter had already lost eight pounds “from being so sick and from not being able to keep down the food.”

Lohan was sentenced last month for violating her probation after she missed a string of court-ordered alcohol education classes.

While behind bars, Lohan will be confined to her cell approximately 22 hours of dayl. She will wear a jail-issued jumpsuit and be issued a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, comb, deodorant, shampoo and shaving kit.

The menu for her first meal behind bars includes turkey tetrazzini – a casserole with noodles and cream sauce – along with applesauce, broccoli coleslaw and wheat bread, TMZ.com reported. Beverage options are milk or water.
