Days after Michael Lohan spoke out about his famous daughter Lindsay’s addiction to prescription drugs, comes word that the entire Lohan clan wants to stage an intervention for the troubled starlet.
“I had a conversation with her, her mother and everyone…over the next couple of weeks I’m going to be doing things in a pretty public way,” Michael told RadarOnline.com. “But Dina has got to get on the same page with me. It’s a serious situation. You can’t just talk about it and tell me that you want to do an intervention and then do nothing.”
Michael previously revealed what has been the cause of his daughter’s downward spiral and gaunt appearance.
“I’m going to get her off the prescription drugs that she’s on,” he claimed. “I hate it when people talk about illegal drug abuse… because it’s not just drinking and illegal drugs that kill you. Prescription drugs can destroy and kill a person and are sometimes harder to stop. Look at Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson.”
He added, “You know why Lindsay’s not acting in feature films right now? Because she can’t. Because the girl with all the talent is hidden and buried deep inside this fungus that’s grown because of the prescription drugs. She can’t be herself. When you hug her she’s like, vacant inside.”
According to a source, the 23-year-old actress has been relying on a multitude of prescription medications, including Adderall (used for Attention Deficit Disorder), the anti-depressant Zoloft, anti-anxiety and bi-polar drugs.
Despite the backlash from those who say Michael is betraying his daughter’s privacy by speaking to the media, Papa Lohan is confident in his parenting skills.
“When Lindsay doesn’t adhere or listen to what I say about serious situations, I feel I have to speak publicly to put pressure on her,” he said. “If she doesn’t take my advice and do what I say…the more pressure I put on her, the more likely she is to eventually do the right thing.”

Former “Late Show” staffer Stephanie Birkitt revealed in her diary that she continued having sex with boss David Letterman even after moving in with her CBS-producer boyfriend, who later allegedly tried to extort him over the affair, sources told The Post yesterday.
Letterman and Birkitt enjoyed romantic hikes last fall at his sprawling ranch in eastern Montana — where he was married in March — while her boyfriend, “48 Hours Mystery” producer Robert “Joe” Halderman, stayed home in Connecticut, the sources said.
At the time, Birkitt, 34, insisted to Halderman that she and the 62-year-old Letterman had just “a platonic relationship,” a source said.
“I’m his best friend,” Birkitt told the worried 51-year-old Halderman, the source said.
Letterman was such a good “friend” that at least once a week, he also would drive Birkitt home to Norwalk, Conn., where she had been sharing a house with Halderman since he divorced his wife in 2004, sources said. The TV funnyman lived with his longtime girlfriend and their son in Westchester.
The multimillionaire comic even did his best to keep Birkitt, a graduate of Benjamin Cardozo Law School, on his payroll.
After she graduated in June 2008, he offered her a job as his personal lawyer, the sources said.
Birkitt later tried to use the generous offer to persuade Halderman to have children with her, saying she would bring in the bucks in her new job and he could stay home as a Mr. Mom, the sources said.
Halderman exploded when he read Birkitt’s diary in December and learned that she was still carrying on a steamy affair with Letterman, the sources said.
The bombshell details in the sensational case emerged as Letterman returned to the “Late Show” set for the first time since Thursday, when he stunned his audience by revealing he had had sexual affairs with female staffers and allegedly had been the target of a related $2 million extortion plot by Halderman.
A clearly chastened Letterman was greeted with thunderous applause during the show’s taping in the Ed Sullivan Theater in Midtown last night.
“Wow, that weekend went fast,” Letterman deadpanned as he opened his monologue.
Sitting down at his desk, Letterman turned serious, saying, “No, I’m not having sex” with any staff members currently, and insisting, “You can’t be victimized by criminals.”

One of my favorite celebrities, Elizabeth Taylor took to her Twitter page on Tuesday to let her friends and fans know she is set to undergo heart surgery.
“Dear Friends, I would like to let you know before it gets in the papers that I am going into the hospital to have a procedure on my heart,” the legendary actress tweeted. “It’s very new and involves repairing my leaky valve using a clip device, without open heart surgery, so that my heart will function better.”
She added, “Any prayers you happen to have lying around I would dearly appreciate. I’ll let you know when it’s all over. Love you, Elizabeth.”
After the 77-year-old star posted her announcement, a number of celebrities sent their well wishes via Twitter.
Rose McGowan wrote, “So many prayers will be said for you. You are much loved and so treasured. Fight!”
“Good luck. My mother I and praying and thinking of you!” Kelly Osbourne said of herself and Sharon Osbourne.
Comedian Sandra Bernhard also tweeted, saying, “You have weathered harsher storms dear lady, we send every variety of prayer from many lands may they carry you through!”
“The Hills” star Heidi Montag Pratt, Larry King and Alyssa Milano also sent their prayers and well wishes.

Are the stars of “The Real Housewives of New York” jealous of their most telegenic member?
Following Bravo’s announcement that N.Y. Housewife Bethenny Frankel would be getting her own show, not one of her cast mates called to congratulate her – not even her best bud on the show Jill Zarin. “What’s funny is that nobody on my cast has said a single word to me about it,” Frankel, 38, told People.com. “It must be a giant elephant (in the room).”
Not that Frankel seems to mind the snub. “I hope they would be supportive just because they’re human beings,” she said. “But do I care? Nah. I don’t even think about it. I’ve got too much to focus on.”
Frankel insisted that she isn’t thinking of leaving the flagship show. But she didn’t rule out the main show bringing in new cast members at some point.
“Let’s put it this way, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were other people that were alternated in,” Frankel says.
After all, Bravo has already stuck a new player into the original New York cast, as they have in Atlanta and Orange County.
Frankel gave no hint about her new series, except that it’s all about – who else? – her. “People ask me what it’s going to be,” she says. “It’s going to be whatever I’m doing, whatever my life is, whatever my career is, whatever my relationship is — whatever is truthfully happening to me. If I could predict the future, I’d know what the show is going to be about.”
The show is likely to include her current boyfriend, Jason Hoppy, who will be introduced on the “New York Housewives” next season. “I put him on when it’s necessary because the audience wants to know I have a boyfriend and meet him and trust him,” Frankel says.
The reality star also remained mum on what will happen in the coming season, the third for the New York-based series. “Some relationships have stayed the same and some have changed,” she says. “There have been a lot of shifts. It’s quite an explosive show.”

Beyoncé was the inspiration behind Kanye West’s now-infamous onstage antics at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, but the “Single Ladies” singer had avoided making any comment on the matter — until Friday.
At Billboard magazine’s annual Women in Music event (where she was named Woman of the Year), Beyoncé finally broke her silence on West’s stage storming — which, at this point, has been commented on by everyone from Green Day and Jay-Z to former President Jimmy Carter and current President Barack Obama. Though she understood the rapper’s intentions, B said she was mortified by his actions.
“Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he’s like, ‘You have this award,’” Beyoncé told O: The Oprah Magazine editor Gayle King after accepting her award. “And when they didn’t call my name he was, like, completely shocked. And when he walked on the stage, I was like, ‘No, no, no!’ and then he spoke, and I was like, ‘Oh, no, no, no!’

“But in the end, it ended up being a great night, and Taylor Swift did get her moment — and I didn’t have to make an acceptance speech,” she added, laughing.
West has repeatedly apologized for his actions on his blog, on “The Jay Leno” show and to Swift herself. And late last week, it was announced that his Fame Kills tour with Lady Gaga had been canceled, a move that seemed to be in keeping West’s “Leno” show pledge that he will be taking time away from the public eye “to analyze how I’m gonna make it through the rest of this life and improve.”
