Beyonce Knowles says she will perform in Malaysia in October, two years after canceling a show in this Muslim-majority country after protesters threatened to disrupt the concert because of her sexy image and clothing.

The R&B superstar’s upcoming show is already drawing the ire of conservatives in this country, where female performers are required to cover up from the shoulders to knees with no cleavage showing.

Knowles said on her Web site that she will take the stage at a stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s biggest city, on Oct. 25. “Beyonce for the first time ever has decided to make Malaysia part of her ‘I am.’ World Tour,” her Web site said.

Knowles canceled a planned concert two years ago following protest threats by Malaysia’s opposition Islamic party. At the time her talent agency said the show was called off due to a scheduling conflict.

Instead she went to Indonesia, which has less stringent rules about how performers should dress and behave.

Sabki Yusof, youth vice head of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, said Sunday that they would send a protest note to the government over the concert. He said it was the government’s “responsibility to protect the people of Malaysia” from what he described as immoral Western influences.

“We are not against entertainment as long as it is within the framework of our culture and our religion,” Sabki said. “We are against Western sexy performances. We don’t think our people need that.”

He said besides the protest note, the party had no plans so far to disrupt the concert. Organizers for Beyonce’s October show could not immediately be reached for comment.

Artists such as Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani have performed in Malaysia under similar protest threats by conservative Muslims, forcing the artists to don attire that revealed little skin.

In the most recent controversy, the government late last month at first barred, then reversed the order forbidding Muslims from attending a Black Eyed Peas concert because it was sponsored by a beer company. With the ban lifted Muslims can now watch the U.S. hip-hop stars at a theme park near Kuala Lumpur on Sept. 25.

In family and personal matters, Muslims, who make up two-thirds of Malaysia’s 28 million people, are governed by Islamic law, which forbids the consumption of alcohol. The laws do not apply to non-Muslims.

After he was unceremoniously “let go” from the Philadelphia Eagles to make room for Michael Vick, receiver Hank Baskett has been picked up by the Indianapolis Colts! Baskett’s agent, Jim Ivler, confirmed that Hank chose to go to Indianapolis and has signed on for a one year contract.

“We got to pick and choose from among several teams,” says Ivler. “It’s not bad to be catching passes from Peyton Manning. Peyton had asked for Hank and wanted him to be there.”

Now that Baskett and his wife Kendra Wilkinson are moving halfway across the country, Indianapolis wants them to know that they are more than welcome.

“They’re gonna fit in, and I think they’re gonna love it,” Chris Gahl, Associate Director of Communication for the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association, tells PEOPLE. “They’re gonna feel very embraced.”

“We have a fun side as well,” insists Gahl. “Were not just cornfields in the middle of nowhere. We’re a thriving metropolis in an urban landscape that has clubs that stay open late and celebrities who come to town.”

I have a feeling that Baskett, Wilkinson and their soon to be son (due Christmas) are going to be traveling back and forth to LA a lot!

Move over, Shakespeare – it was Oprah in the park causing all the commotion Friday.

Stars, sunshine and long lines of fans welcomed the queen of talk to Central Park, where she taped her television show.

Crowds began massing before dawn to get good seats and a good look at guests like “Wolverine” hunk Hugh Jackman and James Bond actor Daniel Craig.

The two leading men made a surprise appearance, welcoming Oprah Winfrey to the city while plugging their new show.

“Daniel and I are doing a play on Broadway,” Jackman told the swooning audience.

“We were just going for our morning jog around Central Park and we just wanted to come and say, ‘Hi.’”

They were followed by Mariah Carey, who sang a ballad from her new album and chatted about her upcoming movie, “Precious,” next to her husband, Nick Cannon.

Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa dashed across town after hosting “Live with Regis and Kelly” to sit beside Winfrey, and even Mayor Bloomberg showed up.

Winfrey, who chatted to fans during commercial breaks, revealed the latest entry in her wildly popular book club: a collection of short stories by Nigerian-born Jesuit priest Uwem Akpan, “Say You’re One of Them.” Free copies were given to the audience.

“It was wonderful. It makes me feel special she thought of doing her show in New York,” said MTA bus operator Dominique Turner, 43, of East New York, Brooklyn.

Turner finished work at 2 a.m. and was in line at the park’s SummerStage at 4 a.m. “It was better than I imagined,” she said.

Just when you thought you’d seen the last of controversial former Miss California Carrie Prejean – she’s back!

The embattled beauty queen, who caused a furor at this year’s Miss USA pageant for her comments against gay marriage, gave a speech Friday at the “Values Voters Summit 2009″ in Washington, D.C.

She made a plea for civility to the GOP crowd, saying “We obviously have not seen it from the Left.”

“We need to be the example of respect, of tolerance, and just how to be civil, can we do that?,” she said.

Nearing the end of her remarks, Prejean broke into tears as she described the divine path she’s traveled since she was pulled into the political boxing ring.

“Even though I didn’t win the crown that night I know that the Lord has so much of a bigger crown in heaven for me,” she said.

Prejean took first runner-up in the competition, and later said she believed she’d lost out on the top title because of the flap following her response to a question from Perez Hilton on same-sex marriage.

“I never asked to be thrown into politics,” she said Friday, ” … but you know what, I’m proud of the stance that I took and I’m glad that God upheld me for such a time as this.”

The conference was also attended by Republican bigs Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and Bill O’Reilly.

Mischa Barton was recently interviewed by the New York Observer and had some interesting things to say. Mischa has a reason to be on the offensive, if for no other reason than to get a break from having to be on the defensive lately. She has had to repeatedly explain and apologize for a DUI arrest last year; a series of roles in independent films (remember You and I, the t.A.T.u. biopic?) that haven’t gone as she hoped; an alleged involuntary psychiatric hold at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in July; accusatory tabloid headlines screaming “Cellulite!”

Mischa is busy filming the CW’s The Beautiful Life: TBL, in which she plays Sonja Stone, a has-been, pill-popping fashion model trying to reclaim her place on top.

On her hospital stay:
“I’m getting sick of answering questions about it,” she said, regarding her hospital stay, as she lit her cigarette and placed an ashtray on the couch. “I just had a bad time of year and now it’s all over and done with, and I’m just very happy to be feeling happy again and back on top of it and not so worried about everything. It was just too much to handle for me at the time.”

“One stay in the hospital was turned into this huge ‘She’s lost her marbles!’ thing, and people look at me like I’m unstable and they should probably cross the street when they see me,” said Ms. Barton, with a roll of her heavily made-up eyes. The actress’ eye roll is one of her distinct assets—used to express frustration, sadness, flirting and even joy, if necessary.

“It was more than just a wisdom-tooth surgery,” Ms. Barton said, repeating what she’s told Time Out, The View and other media outlets. “I understand that people think, ‘Oh, wisdom-tooth surgery, that’s so routine and that’s bullshit.’ But for me it wasn’t routine and it was a mess. I was in more pain than I had ever had in my life. I was getting Novocaine shot into my teeth every day. They drilled into my jaw. I almost lost feeling in my face.”

On her weight gain:
“I went through my teen years in the press, and they got to say whatever they wanted while I was growing up,” said Ms. Barton. “So I’ve gained a few pounds for a little while and now I’m working out again every day. It’s like, the ‘cellulite’ will go away and I will be skinny again. Things happen to you for two minutes, but in the press it’s permanent.”

Burt Reynolds Is Fresh Out Of Rehab

Sep 17, 2009 Author: showbiznews.info | Filed under: Celebrity News, Showbiz News, Celebrity Photos, Celebrity Gossip

Actor Burt Reynolds has been released from a drug rehabilitation center where he was being treated for an addiction to painkillers, his manager said Wednesday.

The star of “Smokey and the Bandit,” “Deliverance” and “Boogie Nights” began struggling after recent back surgery and “realized that he was in the prison of prescription pain pills,” his manager Erik Kritzer said in a statement.

Kritzer said in a later e-mail message he did not know when Reynolds entered or left the Hanley Center in West Palm Beach. The facility’s management declined comment, citing patient confidentiality.

Kritzer said Reynolds, 73, hopes his story will help others in similar situations and that they won’t try to solve the problem by themselves. The actor lives in Hobe Sound, a wealthy beachside community north of Palm Beach County.

In the 1980s, Reynold’s career was nearly destroyed when an injury and prescription drug abuse led to false rumors that he was infected with the AIDS virus. He hurt his jaw making the 1984 comedy “City Heat” with Clint Eastwood. Barely able to eat, he lost 50 pounds and looked ill and emaciated.

“For two years I couldn’t get a job,” Reynolds told the AP in 1990. “I had to take five physicals to get a job. I had to take the pictures that were offered to me. I did action pictures because I was trying to prove that I was well.”

He was diagnosed with temporomandibular joint disorder, which affects the area that connects the jaw to the skull and can result in significant pain. Reynolds then confessed to a reliance on the sleeping aid Halcion.

He eventually regained his health and his career, first in the TV series “Evening Shade” and then as the porn movie impresario Jack Horner in the 1997 hit movie “Boogie Nights.” He was nominated for an Oscar and won a Golden Globe for best supporting actor.
